RIM Gives Devs a Primer to WebGL Along With TunnelTilt Game Demo

RIM first told us that WebGL was coming to the BlackBerry PlayBook Browser and WebWorks apps a few months ago. Still it is pretty impressive what they have done with the technology especially releasing it with PlayBook OS 2.0. In case you dont know, WebGL is a new technology that allows developers to perform advanced rendering and 3D graphics in your browser. Think awesome games, 3D maps, and more. The PlayBook is the first tablet to have WebGL and RIMs web team is very proud of that.

If you want to get an idea of what WebGL can do check out this TunnelTilt demo game created by RIM to show of the PlayBooks capabilities.

If you are a web developer or OpenGL developer interested in learning more about WebGL and available frameworks to build for the BlackBerry PlayBook and elsewhere then definitely check out RIMs primer article on the subject. Adam does a great job of covering the topic and where you should get started!
Keep up the good work RIM.

Having played with a whack of tablets and gizmos I am of the firm opinion that the Playbook browser is the absolute best. Granted, a few features are missing like some better bookmark management but as far as compatibility rendering the widest assortment of web sites my Playbook rocks.
