Will the Playbook video chat work with Apple's FaceTime?
I doubt it but it's worth a shot at asking no?
No, Playbooks video chat works only with other Playbooks
Is this comparable to "will this work on a Mac?"
That's gotta be the stupidest thing I heard for both companies.
The only way that you could get use a PB to use facetime with an iPad is to use a 3rd party app - like Skype.
Which isn't released for PB yet.
Apple did talk about making facetime cross-platform when it was introduced, but funnily enough they have gone quiet on that nowadays.
Will BBM work with my Ipad2? GET THE **** outta here!
Crucial difference is that Rim have never made any claims about making it an open standard or anything like that.
My sony mini dv camcorder doesn't work with iMovies. When will Apple add support for that.
Also my windows software don't run on MacOS. When will apple run native windows app. About time, windows has been around for almost twenty years.
Apple needs to rethink their approach.....shheeesh what will people want next.
Shocking....a couple typical arrogant pri*k responses from the crackberry forum power users.
I travel a lot and use a Playbook that's linked up with my Torch through my companies exchange. I really like the product. My wife has a Macbook through work which she really likes. While traveling it would be cool to connect with my wife and kids via Playbook-Facetime video chat because those are the devices we have.
I would certainly pay for a product that allowed cross platform video chat.
check out reelportal in the app store. its free and should let you chat playbook-->computer i believe. hope that helps.
Just tested reelportal with my wife's macbook. Worked first try with the Playbook. Graphically, you can tell it's still in development mode, but it works. Thanks for the heads up!
That is very strange. What version of iMovie are you using? I have Panasonic HD AVCHD, An analog Sony and a DVSony and all are 100% compatibles with iMovie 09, 10 and 11 (I use 11 now)
Woww, really???? Try Boot Camp, VMware or Parallels.
Globalization? It is happening.
Sorry: I don't understand your comments. Are your questions for real ? I hope my answers help you.
If it was a joke.... sorry... No bad intentions...... Joking too (I think)
if you can make an app that allows video chat to be compatible with facetime, you sir will be one very rich man.
It was probably a joke.... The kind an *** hole would make.
Unfortunately I am silicon product developer (hint: OMAP4) so it would be hard for my expertise.
I can not comment on it by a fact but based on the Apple, PC, Linux and BB limited knowledge that I have (as a user) and the software, apps and crossed applications I use, I think if would be easier to develop an app for iOS that works with reel-portal or playbook chat. Some smart guy will do (I can pt money on it)
From New Delhi? You probably have issues with Apple's compatibility with the lack of sanitary running water as well.
Well, I am just asking because I didn't understand the joke, but I didn't understand either why his iMovie didn't work with the Sony DV camera, Maybe a pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty old version?
I am confused.
:)
How do I get face talk then
Face Time is exclusively Apple app, it does not work in any platform other than their own. I would assume BB10/Playbook would have the same exclusive app as well.
Considering BBM now has voice chat, I am hoping that by BB10 the phones and the PB's will be able to video chat. Also, Skype is the most obvious choice for cross platform video chatting, in general, just wish RIM and Skype could make an agreement. That would bring so many new users....
As for Apple (and I've owned apple computers since my first computer) I really can't imagine them releasing any open-platform apps. It's all about chaining people to their OS.
If you want Facetime you might as well upgrade to an ipad and enjoy all the features it has compared to the PB. Sure it is more then 200 dollars but you get what you pay for
Video Chat as it now exists on the Playbook is going to be rolled into BBM, first on the BB10 phones and later in the BB10 PlayBook update.
I've seen a tantalizing rumor that there will be a desktop client for BBM video, which would do a pretty good job of replacing Skype (PB video chat is already MUCH better than Skype)
Groovy....
Really? A year and a half old thread? And a busy troll dropping in to boot.
