Please just stop with the cartoon Playbook theory. Absolutely no one on earth that doesn't frequent this site would have any idea of what you're talking about, so guess what? It doesn't matter!
Dude just let them have their fun. BB users will need the PB + BB combo to do what most Android and iOS users already do on one device. Who cares if they look goofy while taking out a 7" tablet in public just to browse the web? Or to make sure the PB is connected via Bluetooth to the BB just to be able to use native email and calendar?

    Leave them alone.

Love the wishful thinking of BB fans. It's always something new (that rarely comes true) to keep the hopes up. Cute.

Most likely consumer tablet market picture in a year: 1.) iPad 2.) Android/Honeycomb 3.) HP webOS 4.) Playbook

    Business: 1.) iPad 2a.) Android/Honeycomb 2b.) Playbook

How adorable, the troll made a list of his predictions for the year. You should start a blog, I would read it every day.

You can choose to believe what you want son, but it's been confirmed so I'm not sure what else I can tell ya.

Your quip about 7" tablets is pretty much Steve Jobs regurgitation so try to think for yourself at least once.

Always the pessimistic aren't you. Guess what, I like the idea of having 2 devices and bluetoothing emails across. Keeps emails in less places, and with a HSPA+ device (the 8520 is NOT one) I can respond to emails while on a phone call while also keeping emails in fewer places. Also, I fixed your mistyped placements.

Also, I use BlackBerry Presenter for my presentations. They're all text-based, so the Presenter works fine. I would much rather carry around 2 devices that keep the support for all my accessories than swap to one device that doesn't support my accessories. And no, I WILL NOT sell my accessories before you try playing that card. I'll use BlackBerry whether you like it or not, if you can't accept that, it proves who the bigger person is. And for the record, I am swaying a lot of my friends towards Androids as they don't need the specialist uses I do out of a phone. Only those who demand BBM are the ones who really get a BlackBerry recommended to them.

Unfortunately, even if it was, it's just a cartoon.

Makes me think a quarter pushback is likely, i mean RIM can't really be this **** at advertising their products can they?
Yup cartoon advertising is a waste of time. Charles Schwab, The Simpsons, Family Guy are just a waste time and don't sell **** to anyone.

I agree, because I'm sure that when that commercial aired last night all 170 million people watching were like "Look, he's holding a Playbook!".

"As the platform evolves" isn't a confirmation. It's well established that the Wifi-only Playbook won't have native email and calendar without BB Bridge.

Love the optimism. It's always "RIM has something up their sleeves!" threads after another. LOL. And they rarely ever come true. For a whole year, you guys were speculating on the mythical "Storm 3" that would finally give RIM fans what they wanted. Hilarious.

And I don't agree with Steve Jobs on the 7" thing. Not sure where you got that from. My point was how funny it is that RIM fanboys (and nobody else really) are jumping at the opportunity to use the BB/Playbook combination in public because of the BB's enormous shortcomings, all the while Android and iOS (except Flash) users do it all on one device.

I mean, you guys are convinced it won't be an issue to carry a 7" tablet in public wherever you go. Whatever floats your boat.

    BINGO .

I have to be honest... That is my point entirely. Why do companies advertise? To inform the public about their products. What the public saw lastnight was a cartoon character interacting with a generic black tablet. It didn't even have the blackberry logo on it.

Suppose it was; Who recognizes what it was? A scant few blackberry enthusiasts. What good is that? I understand that the bb community is dying for RIM to flip them a bone but come on guys, don't reach like that. Its silly.

So how are you going to be making phone calls when you only take your tablet? You'll have two devices too. It's not like we have to hold one in each hand to make them work together. Your concern for our well-being is touching yet unneeded.

Wow, the anti-PB crowd is really worked up today. They must be worked up about the $X00m...

I don't think it was any major marketing attempt, just cool to see it as a Cb addict. It's not a huge leap to think the tablet in the OPs link would be a RIM product too...

It's obvious that this wasn't advertising, there's no use making a big deal out of that, from what i've read nobody claimed this to be RIMs advertisement, It's just for fun!

alby I have to disagree on the carrying in public. I have seen many ipads out and about as one of my best friends and his wife both have their own 3g ones (each have one, they don't like to share lol) and got both last year as wedding presents; they are both techies and that is their laptop. Ipads are out in public, the xoom will be, hp tablets and the playbook will. I don't agree on the tethering to need email blah blah, but I made my point on that and I am done with that. Tablets do go out in public and it doesn't look stupid etc.

Yes this is crackberry.com. F all of these stupid troll losers......I cant even imagine being so lame that I have to constantly stay on forums for a product I supposedly hate. I went to Android Central one time just to take a look and its no wonder you losers come over here. Crackberry.com is a great place for people who love Blackberries to come and talk about it. In your pathetic little minds im not sure how you justify spending so much time on something you hate and think is "inferior" to your precious android. You guys just cant let go. For whatever reason you just cant. So why dont you guys grow a pair and go play with your phones that do "so much more" than our dated blackberries. You guys are like annoying crickets chirping outside my window. Shut the **** up....and for the record most of us have tried Android and have come right back.

Tablets that aren't made to go out in public is an innovation that I'm unable to get my head around. Mobile computing is about taking it with you, not leaving it at home on the couch. How did this notion suddenly come into play?

So true, its like trying to convey to me that im bit silly carrying around my mp3 player cause my phone does that too or that my dslr camera just takes up space when my phone can take photos.

I also want to point out that not everyone needs 3G/4G capability straight of the box, I mean my netbook and notebook dont have that connectivity but it does have wifi. I dont think it'll affect the success of the playbook with a wifi only launch release. The price on the other hand will.

Lastly, people attacking the op because 170 million people or whatever bollocks number you choose may not care but because this is a BB forum, those here might get a kick out of it. Obviously, some just like to place a kick right up those who care to explore the possibility.

I completely disagree with some of your post. I don't want them to shut up. This is a free forum and probably one of the liveliest anywhere. It can get out of hand at times, but IGNORE is also an option. We all dated blackberrys at one time or another, I've gone back to girls, but I still keep a couple of berrys nearby when I get an urge for something different.

I honestly dont see tablets as truly portable. I mean i see you taking them with you to read on the beach maybe or at a coffee shop, maybe library or whatever. But i agree you wont see many people just carrying them around on the street at this point wherever they go. I see it as a luxury item you will only grab with a specific use in mind for it. Atleast for now. as they become more popular that might change.

The xoom commercial has him walking to the florist and using it for navigation. I dont think that will be typical. In the car sure, but not walking around much. That is where a great navigation application like google maps on the phone comes in.
