    Hi guys,

I'm planning to set-up a 2.1 audio system in our new living room. It's going to be a tube amp with a dvd/cd player which has a USB/HDMI socket.

Now, I was thinking of purchasing a PlayBook to use as my media player for this set-up. I'll be attaching it via HDMI and/or USB. Since I would be playing mostly lossless files, I'm wondering if PlayBook can handle this out of the box.

    1. What are the audio formats that can be played by the PlayBook?

    2. What are the video formats that can be played by the PlayBook?

    3. If EAC/FLAC aren't supported out of the box, can I install any BlackBerry program which would make it play these file extensions?

    4. How good is the DAC of the PlayBook?

    Thanks guys.

For your audio needs you can get the excellent Neutron Music Player. I'm not familiar with the best video player apps but if I find out, I'll add a comment.

For a great video app get Kalemsoft MediaPlayer also available in BB World. It can play virtually any video file. The Playbook supports these media files natively: http://docs.blackberry.com/en/smartp...English%29.pdf

If you have a music server I recommend using your playbook like a squeeze box touch that can be controlled from the tablet or any phone or computer. Just need to install the squeezebox software on your computer or server. I have two playbooks setup in different rooms of the house but can control them independently. It works very much like Sonos, and was actually ahead of Sonos I believe. Picture of my media apps attached.

Interesting suggestions guys, will check them out.

@brookie, checked the link, thanks mate. however, the files indicated there are the files that will generally play in a Blackberry device but there was still a note that "it depends from one device to another"
