Hey if I can't post in your save the pb thread you need to quit posting in this thread with an optimistic view

I hope you know I'm just kidding. But it is what it is and that's all it will be.

You're absolutely right, but the Playbook user community never stepped up to facilitate such developments. Part of the problem when trying to prolong the life of the Playbook is the attitude of the Playbook user The "can't do" attitude is too deeply rooted IMHO...

edit: To me personally this was the biggest disappointment in the round of action I engaged in. The lack of willingness to "fight" was somewhat shocking and back then even more could have been achieved IMHO.
Unfortunately we can't go back in time and change that and it is frustrating. I posted a year ago about gamepads and Tablet OS. All the information anyone needed to support it in their apps.

Moving forward however, things CAN be done with what we have.

If an developer wants to make a game on PlayBook, and it happens to be the kind that would benefit from supporting a gamepad that we can make use of, support it. Make it a best practice because it just plain makes the game better.

And if a developer does that, buy the game if it's good. Show your support and make it worth their time.

We will NOT be getting an updated browser from *BlackBerry*. Exactly why does every alternate browser we have really just act as a skin over the Built in version of WebKit?

Why hasn't anyone compiled a more up to date version and used Qt to build a UI for it? Does it just not work or has nobody with the skill cared?

It's things like that which can keep the platform going a while longer for the hobbyists until the hardware itself dies. Makes it very frustrating to not really know C++.

I agree. One thing I explicitly pushed for back then was to keep as much devs (old and new alike) aboard as possible and to create an environment for them to comfortably keep on developing for. The idea was pretty much laughed away back then, sadly.

Dual Core TI OMAP Processor at 1Ghz and 1GB of RAM at the very least?

Easily enough to get Gingerbread running at a good level...
Gingerbread? I have a Samsung galaxy ace with Gingerbread
..it has a 800mhz processor and 275 mb of ram

The PlayBook could easily handle 4.4.2 given it can run on half a gig of ram

Yeah agreed. The PlayBook could handle way more than GB.

My original HTC Incredible is currently running JB, and it's pretty zippy on a single core CPU with 512MB of RAM.

The PlayBook hardware itself could easily run it too, seeing as there's double the RAM and an extra core to throw at it. Too bad the bootloader isn't going to cooperate with that.

You should flash a kit kat ROM for it! It's optimised for 512mb devices

It should run better than jellybean

I just found out there was a CM 11 ROM available for it. Might as well charge the battery and check it out later

It's okay. It's just being honest. The PB does it for some people and not for others. Sounds like most tech, really.

Yep, there are apple folks, android folks, and then there are bb10 folks over pbos2.1.

But I also prefer me some z10 over the PlayBook.

Try watching Amazon Prime Instant Videos on an Android tablet.

    My PlayBook can do that.

Not bad for a dead plaform, eh?

The big difference here is that the parrot sketch will always remain funny,
while all this Playbook speculation never really was funny to begin with.

The playbook can do something that neither my Z30 or samsung s3 can do.

It can stream the live webcam feeds from adult website Myfreecams.

Not that I ever do that....
