check this out�.....stream anything vlc player can play to chromecast without using the chrome browser. Works great

so far anything I've thrown at it plays fine with the exception of vob files. I think this is just a setting to add so here goes...

can control my laptop from playbook with phonemypc and it works great, even streaming through the laptop with media on another pc on the network.

way better than airplay or that ruko crap

I've around 5-10 DLNA enabled devices at home and Chromecast (as long as they do not add DLNA support) is a big propretary nonsense. You will either always found an incompatible device when you just want to stream something or you buy everything from only one company (and then others with a different brand/protocol have a problem). I do not say Chromecast shouldn't exist, but why Google did not put DLNA support there as well (as its nearly the same functionality)...The reason is our old friend LOCKIN-EFFECT!

Better BB relesae DLNA support finally for the PB, then you could do the things above already with most existing modern TVs

Haha, I must realy laugh out...Google throws out a new toy and all the masses go for it because it's so cool and from Google (But the same masses are obviously too stupid to figure out how DLNA works - just a tip: Read about it once on Wikipedia and you should have understood what is it: if that's a limit, then consider yourself a dumb mainstream user).
Now Google obviously wants to lock people in theirs services (their chromecast update just prove it again) but bumb mainstream owner are what they are: blind and foolish!

A chromecast stick not supporting DLNA or Miracast, is a restricted electric garbage! No one minds if they add to these "open" standards their own Google stuff but pushing just another "ring to bind them all" is a NOGO for every educated IT user!
