How would he have car phone?
Actually, he would have data, that is true, I do not know if the LTE pb supports somehow making calls, which I doubt...true there, my bad ;) I stand corrected ;)
I am going to add an raspberry pi to my project. My target is to control the rpi xbmc via dlna from playbook.

It works :). Streaming music from playbook's neutron player to raspberry pi openelec (xbmc client) via obd wifi aces point.
Now all I have to do is to buy a central mirror 4.7 inch display for raspberry pi video out.
I keep you updated and maybe post a video with some pictures :)

Where did you get the frame?
Well done.

So here is my plan : I use obd wifi adapter as a bridge in AP/STATION dual mode. The obd bridge take the signal form the 3G/WIFI apn and distribute to al the devices connected to have Internet acces and for the playbook to connect to obd using torque. Now the playbook is streaming audio (neutron player) to raspberry pi witch is connected to car's stereo sistem. Also raspberry pi have a video out witch is connected to mirror central display. I can remote command the raspberry pi via xbmc remote installed on playbook.
Here is the display mounted on central mirror

I would really like to do this but cutting into my dash scares the heck out of me. It's the only thing holding me back!

Would you be able to put together a diy tutorial for the audio and power wiring? I'm a bit lost how did you connect the playbook to your cars audio system?
Edit
Can you show us how you managed to install the playbook with the clean flush looks?
I also noticed your car's radio cd was relocated to the glove compartment, did you have to buy an aftermarket radio to accomplish this?

Excellent work! Thanks for the inspiration, I hope to do this is my truck.
I wonder if the unit goes off... how will you turn it back on?

Excellent point.
This is interesting.

Darn it! This really puts a wedge in my attempt to do this with my car. Hopefully op has a solution to this

It's car's stock radio cd with aux in. I bought the frame and I had to extend radio cd wires to the glow compartment. When the playbook goes off, witch happens very rarely, I have 2 screws on the top of the frame. I unscrew those 2 and the unit come out a little bit just to reach the power button.

I'm really jealous, I'd love to do this on my car! Thanks for sharing!
Sorry, I'd like to typo but my Q10 just can't handle it.
Do you not find Osmand a bit rubbish? It looks full of promise but is so slow to use and then most oft he time when asked to do route planning it sits there thinking for a couple minutes then crashes and I end up at the Playbook main screen.
I can't believe no one's ever made a decent SatNav program for the Playbook...
