    I placed a note with my personal info in the box. The mailing envelope is used outside. The safety declaration went inside. But I made a copy and put it in the envelope, too.
    Thanks, I will probably do that, plus stick a label onto the back of the PlayBook with RMA number and my details too.

    FedEx opened the box for Customs so I don't know if anything fell out.

    I recently updated my PB os to beta os 2.1 but then somehow lost camera and screen shot functionality. Reading herein I backed up my PB using the most recent Desktop Manager - then went back to os 2.0.1.358 - and successfully can use the camera and screen shots. The issue is now I can not Restore my latest Backup but can only Restore an earlier Backup. If some of you have a work around your comments would be appreciated.

    I think you may be stuck as I think that I've read that the backup files are not interchangeable between the beta OS and the normal OS. What kinds of stuff are you worried about restoring? You can manually copy FILES (pics, videos, music, docs, etc) using drag and drop generally. You should be able to re-download any apps that you have acquired. You would lose stuff like bookmarks and personal settings and game scores, etc.

    I have not tried backups under the beta so I don't know what Desktop Manager encrypts. That backup file has been one very large ZIP file. So if you can UNZIP is you might find a file or folder within it that contains your photos. Generally, those are the items that backup manually using drop and drag. Some unzip utilities are overwhelmed by the size of the zip.

    Resolved! I updated Desktop Manager to the new released version and tried a reinstall of OS and viola the camera has sprung to life. I had deleted Desktop Manager before and reinstalled but no luck but on latest has worked. Coincidence or not am delighted. Back on track and proud Blackberry owner here. Awesome unit.
    You are the second one I've seen mention they fixed it by updating destop manager to the latest version. Mine is currenlt at the repair facilty, I wish I had seen your post before sending it in as that woudl have been intriguing to check. Anyways, glad to hear yours is up and running and hopefully other folks can find a fix in what you did.

    Your only option may be to reinstall the beta then restore your backup file. Secure your pictures on the computer then go back to official again.

    A while ago, my playbook camera stopped working..its just a black screen for camera and video. For a bit it worked with websites but it has stopped completely, and my warranty ended aprox. One month ago..is there anyway it could be fixed without paying a truckload of money? D:

    In some cases (helps to plug the keyboard back in after vacuuming it!!!!), Rim has been known to fix broken camera issues for the pb even after the warranty has expired.

    The PB has a one year warranty to the original purchaser. It also has 90 free Tech support. I do not know how Rim deals with "quasi-tech support v. warranty"

    Hi i have the same problem, my front and back camera's are not working. Im going to contact rim to see if i can send it back for a repair, but before i do this can anybody who has sent theirs back tell me whether you needed the reciept as i no longer have mine.

    There is no fix for the camera it has to be sent back I just finished going through that. The camera issue is a defect and all PlayBooks need.to be fixed for free. If this was a car manufacturer then these cameras would be fixed for free and recalled.

    Fixed my camera for front camera. Mileage may vary but worked for me
    With unit powered off I used my thumb and firmly pressed down on front camera. Powered up unit and started videochat. Instant joy.

    Update. It stopped working again. This time I firmly pressed on all top buttons and the front camera lens and it started working.

    As I start my bb playbook 16gb pixels shatter as shown in the pic and also the black color is shown in red in movies and apps everywhere. Camera is not my main problem but the red spots.
