The reason for the longer boot time is due to all kernels and processes being closed at shut down and then reopening at start up. This is a security feature and the same process for BB phones. A hard reset doesn't allow the kernels and processes to close normally, so a bug or glitche isn't saved, allowing a fresh start. I leave mine in standby as well 24/7. At work when on standby BT and wifi are both enabled and as long as you have a good wifi signal, battery drain has never been a factor. I reboot after each update and app download, otherwise always on.
