As of now, there are no known plans to bring a native BBM client to the PlayBook. You CAN BBM on the PlayBook if you Bridge it to any BlackBerry device running OS5 or higher.

If you go to BlackBerry's website you will see a wi - fi, cellular version of PlayBook to come. Shouldn't this be removed if it is not coming?

    They're all WIFI and wireless.

Using BB Bridge is the only way to use BBM on the playbook, which works great!

    It's official.
The playbook has been discontinued. No more updates, now new features. No new playbooks.
    This means no bbm.

Cross Platform BBM is device locked. Only Legacy BB users who own a PlayBook can use BBM on more than one device. We've always had BBM on it.

Bridge BBM works better than expected when bridged with the Z10. Native BBM will never arrive. There's almost no reason to use a PB if you don't have some sort of a BB phone.

This may be a dumb question - but does Bridge work when the phone is on Wifi instead of cellular also? I'm considering picking up an older BB phone but I don't necessarily want to get a data plan for it.

Bridge will, but BBM requires a data plan in the first place.

It's not the people. It's BlackBerry. The company still do not know how to communicate with customers. Update , no update, BB10, no BB10, EOL, no EOL.......

Interesting - so it wouldn't work with a Freedompop hotspot.

Works on any Bridged OS10 device too. There's a desktop version planned.

BBM works over wifi, and bridged to any OS10 device will allow BBM on a PB to function as well.

Yes, but the phone has to have BBM in the first place. And that needs the phone to have a data plan unless something radical has changed over there.

BBM works over wifi, without data, for all OS10 devices. Legacy needed data.

Where have u seen this ?

I mean it's probably true, but I've not seen or heard anything from BBRY saying the playbook is EOL.

And this is why BBRY have problems - they can't communicate anything and when they do they frequently can't back the words up.
