Unless it starts to glow cherry-red, or too hot to hold, it's probably fine.

Seriously, the PB will get warm when in use. This is particularly the case when the PB is working hard - and the recent HD arcade-type games do work it hard.

Worry less, enjoy the PB more.

This is normal, the back of the PlayBook around the Blackberry emblem especially, will get warm and sometimes hot when in use. I've noticed when there are apps running, music playing and movie watching it tends to get warm, but cools rapidly when everything is closed. No worries, this is normal.

How do you know it's the battery that's hot? Do you know where the battery actually is?

(Hint: there are actually two, and neither one of them is behind the BB logo on the back... that's the CPU and associated chips, which is actually why it gets hot. It's normal, and harmless, unless you're seeing extremely high temperatures, like above 50C with even moderate use.)
