My nissan altima 06 oem cd player didn't come with aux input or bluetooth capable. I bought this product called "GROM" from gromaudio.com its a usb bluetooth ( plug n play ) and had it installed to my nissan stereo. The device works on ipods and smartphones. Since the Playbook has bluetooth thought it would be cool to connect it. It works flawlessly, I can now watch movies and play my musics coming out from my factory speakers. The nissan came with a compartment on top of dashboard. Its suppost to be for navigation system for higher trim level. Since Playbook is a 7inch display, i bought some tools and hardwares. and whoallaaa..!!! it fits perfectly. When Im living the car, I either close the cover or simply detach it and bring it with me. My car became chick magnet!!! it looks elegant and stylish.. see pic below!

how about you guys/girls, show us pics and how do you set up your wonderful Playbook.. show us your style. And how did you manage to make it possible.! Show us your BOLDnessst..!!

Love it! Been looking into the best way to mount mine in my car but not much dash space in the PT Cruiser Convertible

I have an 05 Infiniti G35 and it has a similar flip up compartment. The Playbook fits very nicely without the need for any hardware. Unfortunately, I don't have it hooked up to the stereo, so it's still a bit limited. Still, it's fun to play a video or listen to a song on it once in awhile.

    That looks nice!

Here is a pic of mine. I used a leather reader with Velcro attached to the back of it, and the other other piece velcro on to the dash. I also use a Jabra Bluetooth FM transmitter, clipped on my sun viser. works fairly well

Good job! OK, now we have the PB integrated into a car before Ford does their thing with it, we have a PB integrated into a dualsport motorcycle cockpit, in a helicopter and in an airplane. We do need to make a photo album. We have photos of all. Now we need a boat. Air, land and sea will be covered

I bought one of the car mounts, screwed it within inside the compartment, addtional cutting may require, in this case I cut the mounts shorter so I would be able to use the cover, then from the mounts you get one of the barely there thin case and attached it together. these two things will be permanent. if you use the full kit mounts you won't be able to close the cover bec. of it's claws on both sides and it would sticks out. The result would be ugly and ghetto looking..

Now, I gave you guys some tips... go try it, let your car become a " Chick Magnet " Guys respect it, Girls digs it.. Playbook rocks solid... perfect size, good quality, and for me.. " Best tablet."

All we need now is some good native GPS and audio player for the playbook to be really useable in cars (trucks, motorbikes, etc.)

JFYI If you have one of these installed in the "maritimes" you will not be a chick magnet, but you will be a police magnet. all these devices and cell phones are banned from the drivers view here... cell phones can be used IF you stop and pull off the road..

I don't know where you live but I would be concerned with extremes in temperatures and any effect they may have on battery life.

This is really cool! I love the ingenuity.

Well, I don't have a Playbook (yet!), but I set up my ThinkPad in my van. I went to one of those places that sells the laptop vehicle mounts used in police and utility company vehicles. Here it is:

Here's mine mounted in my 03 Lincoln LS

Edit: I have to ask though, to connect mine to my stereo I installed an FM Modulator... Im on the website for the GROM right now thinking of getting one but I need to know do you get any static using this product with Bluetooth!?!

If the audio player is all that is being used then it won't be an issue. Movie while driving will be if they can see it.

Cells can be used with Bluetooth.

There was a guy in the US that got in trouble for watching porn while in traffic. I think this guy had headrest monitors that were turned on at the time.

Nice work! Is it removable so the PB doesn't get exposed to polar or tropical temperature extremes?

Not a permanant installation, but the Trexta Marquis case fits nicely on my console and stays put because the front edge of it is in a small compartment and the base of it has some nice non slip stips built into the case. The truck has a GPS, so not really needed as a GPS.

Thats sort of hard to do when most cars are being built with these systems integrated into the car dash.

The built in systems have some safeguards built in. For example, the unit in my truck will not allow you to add or edit destinations to the GPS when the vehicle is in motion, the movie display will go blank when in gear and you cannot scroll through all the XM sattelite radio category selections while in motion. The GPS/stereo is integrated into the vehicle's system, I assume by some sort of network like canbus, as it even knows when I need gas and dead reckons when a GPS signal is lost such as in a tunnel.

Here's some bad pics of my PB mounted on my motorcycle with a RAM mount bonded to my OtterBox cover as the holder. Sorry, but the bike is dirty, but hey, it's offroad most of the time. NFS responds well to the bike moves

I was told, that when you get any statics. the annoying sounds are actually coming from your phone ( due to its maybe antenna or coverage ) in my case I did had some issues. but there are also other ways to connect your device to grom, that's usb stick and aux 3.5mm input. the sounds will be noise free. Dig the website and it'll tell you what u need to know..
