    Hello,

    I am technology stupid!

Question I am looking @ getting a playbook,

I wanted to know I am clueless when it comes to wi-fi!

I wanted to know the updates that get sent to the playbook can they only be downloaded via wifi or is it possible to be done via the bridging of my BB fone to the device with my 3G device.

Where I stay I don't have acess to wifi,

Is it a wise buy if I am wifi stupid

It won't download through the phone connection. You'll need wifi or you can also update it with a computer with BB Desktop Manager installed.

No, unfortunately it wont work to get OS updates being connected to Bridge. It might change in the future but for now needs WiFi to get OTA updates

I would guess that what is known as the DEBRICK procedure will work on an initial install of the OS. So check out the debrick threads for more info. In summary:

Connect the PB to your PC with DM running.
    From the Menu, click Device>update.
You'll get a notification that the OS is up to date.
Reboot your PB while still connected to DM.
You will then get a new prompt in DM, hit the update button.

Also, do you have access to a coffee shop or library that has wifi - you might be able to accomplish it that way.
