Looks like most of the sales are over today and the Playbook has reverted to its original price. Anyone aware of any retailers still offering the $199?

Disappointed that us Canadian's can't get that, the Canadian prices are still at the sale price. It is a sweet price on 64GB!

IMO, there will be another 199 promo in about two-three weeks.
They do this for US Federal Trade Commission requirements that the full retail price is maintained for a number of days before they offer a limited 'sale' price. Otherwise they will have to make 199 the full 'new' price, or a permanent price drop.

SHOPBLACKBERRY has a super price on 64G
    16G 299
    32G 299

Does anyone know if the Sprint PlayBook comes branded? I'm thinking about getting one from them.

The Sprint $199 price runs through the 7th. There's no 3rd party branding on the device. Sprint will only allow you 14 days to return it and charges a $35 restocking fee if you want to return it just to return to it.

    BlackBerryPlayBook - RIM US
I had read something about it being a tax write-off and thought that is why RIM ended it in 2012. Hope you're right!

I believe the tax write off can be taken over several years. They have a cash crunch and want to turn inventory into dollars. My thoughts are timing. If they have another two week promo at the end of January, they can run another promo about the time of the OS2 launch.
