I'll keep it going another weekend.

This was an excursion back to The Bronx via breakfast. Lox, eggs and onions accompanied by a Bialy:

My outside world is similar to yours except without the snow - gray. That's why breakfast was the pick-me-up. Now the mountains, they are a different story - high avalanche danger.

Yes, good quality since the pb does not generally do well in low-light situations.

Wish I had some snow to take a picture of. 35 and rain seems to be the theme this year.

I had thought about adding wiki links but figured I would be a bit more cryptic this time. I did find some fascinating links to BIALY (Bialystok, Poland). Lox is a form of cured Salmon. Onions and eggs are self-explanatory. What is interesting for me as I think about it - this was one of the only things my dad cooked when I was growing up. Mom even did the bbq. But lox, eggs and onions was dad's breakfast treat.

A few weeks back, I was passing through Whole Foods and they have some small tubs of Lox remainders. I got one, split it up into smaller servings and froze them - this morning, inspired by the bialy I got the other day, I whipped up breakfast.

Bialy and Lox turned up some interesting music. No my cup of tea but it kept me busy for a while.

We had the smoker going all summer in Alaska filled mostly with salmon. Next time I see lox on a menu I will try it.

In NYC, we would have both smoked salmon AND lox. As noted below:

"Though the terms "smoked salmon" and "lox" are used interchangeably, they're in fact, not quite the same thing. Real lox (also called belly lox) refers to the midsection of a salmon that's simply been cured in a salt brine; consequently, it possesses a saltier flavor than what many of us associate with smoked salmon.

Part of the confusion arises from the use of the term "Nova lox" or "Nova salmon," which originally referred to the lightly cured and cold-smoked salmon that hailed from Nova Scotia.

Today, smoked salmon is often prepared using wild and farm-raised salmon from both the Atlantic as well as the Pacific — and modern-day usage of the term has further blurred the distinction between lox, Nova lox, and smoked salmon. Did you know the distinction between the two?"
