Is it really possible that my native pb camera cannot resize, rename, import, or export any pictures? Please tell me I'm missing something.
For resize download PicShop from appworld. For renaming download AIR Browser from appworld. They are both free and they are only suggestions (there are more out there).
As for import and export I guess you mean between the PB and a PC. There are three main ways:
- Use the USB cable to connect to a PC and then open the folder and drag and drop
- Use the USB cable and the Desktop Manager
- Over wifi sharing.
Photo editor extreme ($1.00) does a good job of resizing and has some other nice features. (best value photo app IMO)
PhotoFX Image Effects ($3.00) lets you name your picture, choose the size, file format (jpg, png, bmp) and the folder. Not the easiest to use or the most feature laden app but I like it.
Picshop has a very nice interface and range of filters etc. But it tends to compress files a bit more than I would like. Good for facebook but if you do much cropping you'll notice a loss of detail.
TouchUp Pro (2.00) is by the same people that did Picshop. It lets you choose the size you want on saving but also compresses like Picshop. There is a lite version for free but I don't remember what is left out from the pro version.
There's at least a dozen of good picture editing apps available. BlackBerry10 will have some pretty powerful built in picture suit from what I understand.
First, I guess I would correct the subject of the thread. The camera, especially in good lighting, is quite good. The camera app is missing the features you have asked about. The fact that I can't easily take a picture and then from that camera app easily (or at all) attach that pic to an email is inane!
I am not quite sure what do you mean here F2. I can take a pic from my PB easily, and I then go to the email app I tap on "attach", navigate to the pics and I choose it. Unless you mean that the camera app does not have the feature of attaching pics from within the app.
Just wait til you try the hesitating video camera. It truly suuuuuucks!
Yes, that's what I meant - directly looking at an image and ATTACHING it from the camera app as I have been able to do on my bb phone for years. And with 3,000 images, finding an image to attach from the bridge email is nearly impossible.
especially with the core system file manager that shows every .gif and .bmp file from every website I seem to have ever been to. But then again I don't have the ability to prevent the device from going into standby, nor can I organize bookmarks so it would be insane to want to email an image from the image capture or viewer.
Good thing for all the actual practical uses I put my playbook to, albiet with the help of android
The Playbook camera is better than the ipad2, and probably equal to the 3.
But a cheapish pocket camera with flash and optical zoom is always going to be better than a tablet or phone. I just wish it was easier to get my pics onto the playbook.
