Does anybody know how the Playbook calculates its "automatic backlight dimming"? I cant see any light detectors on it. At first, I thought it maybe had something to do with the camera, so I covered it with my thumb and then shone a light into it to see if the screen would adjust... nothing happened, so that's out of the books.

    So, any idea?

I think it senses from where LED indicator is.

No idea where the sensor is but there definitely is one though.

Its possible that its where the LED sensor is. If it isn't, RIM have hidden it extremely well. Its always visable on every device I've ever used that has one - even if the manufacturer has attempted to hide it.

It's where the LED is. In plain sight, just cover the LED and your screen will dim.
