Hi guys, I also had to downgrade from OS 2 beta , and got a media only backup as was instructed here as the full backup is not compatible with os 1.x . But I get the same incompatibility issue with the media backup as well.

Is there anyway to open the backup file through some program and extract the files i want?
    or any other workaround ?

The backup is a zip file which contains among other things some "tar" files. I haven't bothered doing a media backup myself, but I expect it is done the same way as the other two. The tar format is pretty conventional (Unix command line stuff) so there ought to be simple free utilities that can work with it on your own computer.

And in fact, I just (well, took a half hour to find an app that could open such a large "zip" (xxx.bbb) file) and my c: drive ran out of space) I verified the the MUSIC and other media are in there. I copied out Songs of the Auvergne.

I'd check out 7zip, assuming you're on Windows.

    1) Rename the .bbb file to .zip and open with 7zip.
    2) Extract .tar from .zip file.
    3) Use 7zip to open .tar file, you'll find your media inside.
