I just bought a 64GB Playbook off of eBay. This is replacing an old 16GB Playbook. The 16GB has the power button that is level with the Playbook case. The 64GB has the power button that is raised a little and much much easier to use. The battery life on the 64GB is unbelievable and charges much faster. The question I have is did RIM do something to the battery in the "new style" Playbooks? Both are running the same OS, 2.1.0.1032.

    Thanks for any responses.

RIM has made some changes to the hardware since the initial release of the PlayBook. The buttons and the fast charging pins have been altered and are easier to use.

The difference between PB's with raised or flush power buttons is just that, different size power buttons. It's not an indication of different hardware. The flat pins on the rapid charger port are unique to the 4G playbooks.

I think the new 4g pb's have a smaller battery to accommodate the new circuitry.

I have the 64 Gb PB and if the power button is described as "raised a little" I hate to think of what the power button of the 16Gb was like. By the way, I bought the AmPen stylus which came with a blunt plastic cylindrical pin-like attachment. Many couldn't figure what this as for but I now strongly suspect that it is intended to use as a tool to poke the power button on. It fits perfectly over the power button.

If you need an object to press the power button then call RIM. The fixed one of mine with no questions asked. I mentioned my second playbook with the flush button but out of warranty and they offered to fix that one as well.

The LTE destroys the battery. Literally shreds it. But a great device nonetheless.
