I was almost set on jumping ship after all the waiting, now after watching the new OS I think I will be giving RIM a second chance. The remote feature sealed the deal, I'm thinking of getting a 9810 or 9900 go with it. I swear had thought about a remote app a while back, I'm glad RIM was working on it already.

Now give me a quick charge dock with HDMI pass through, so I can dock my PB and hook it up to my tv at the same time while controlling it with my new phone! I want this. Just use the same dock design which is solid and add a micro hdmi pin next to the charging pins and a regular size hdmi out port in back. Add Netflix support while your at it.

It will only get better from here.

There is a thread in here somewhere where this idea has been discussed.

I have been inside the OEM dock and there is a lot going on in there. All the circuitry required for power conversion I suppose. A larger dock would be needed but with the new remote feature we might see a more media capable dock.

I just have the feeling trying to properly seat/align two plugs blindly from a dock into the bottom of the pb is going to be a difficult proposition. The magnetic plug is probably a safe bet but both the usb and hdmi ports are not the firmest sockets and I'd guess that the stress of trying to line things up with little or no "float" could damage the hdmi port. But I'm not a mechanical engineer or design specialist. Even the magnetic rapid charger needs to be properly aligned or you get a Lightning Bolt but no charging.

It might be easier if the unit were set on some easel upside down and then maybe a unified bar of some kind might be easier to seat on top.
