After recently getting my PlayBook, I have been impressed by Bridge and have begun to look into getting a BlackBerry handset to use it. Can anyone recommend the best for under �150 (GBP) Pay As You Go or SIM free/ eBay? I have seen several Bold 9000s for �89 used, is there anything better?

If there is any way you can spring for the extra $$$, go for the 9900 or 9930. It's worth it.
I would say any OS 7 device will do nicely. Having said that, once you have bridge and sms bridge going the only thing your phone is for is mobile communication so all your cool screen based stuff will be on the PlayBook. So I do agree the 99xx is best as it has the best keyboard but I found a used 9801 cheap and its great. Jump in and enjoy.
Truth be told, after getting my playbook, I sold an iPhone 3G and got a BB curve 3G 9300 running OS 6 and looking back, because I use the playbook for most things but mobile communication, it was more than good enough. OS 6 has lots of apps and themes as well. OS 7, no themes, yet.
