I'll be loading 2.1Beta onto my boy's PB later today I reckon.

668 has left him with a PB that turns itself off after a few minutes unless attached to a charger... and he's very unhappy about the situation.

Can someone confirm: The Apps he has installed on his PB will survive the update to 2.1Beta? Yes, true?

If the Apps need to be re-installed after updating to OS2.1Beta, I might as well downgrade to the previous official OS (358) instead.

That includes both App World and side-loaded apps, in case you're worried about side-loaded apps.

Official app world apps will work, but there is no guarantee on side loaded apps. I have not noticed any probpems with mine though.

Its complicated. It involves backing up, security wiping and stuff like that. Google it

Back up your device.

Connect your PB to your PC and run the DM.

reset(three finger salute or cycle power) the device while it is still attached to the PC and it will ask if you want to recover. Say yes, and about 1 - 1.5 hours later (depends on download speed) you should be good to go.

Are you sure it's turning off?

My Dad had a similar problem with his Playbook (he's in the UK). In the end it was his power button not working correctly.

Turned out he just needs to swipe the full width of the device and the PB wakes up.
