New App from RIM "Upgrade"
Ironic, lame, useful, what? In view of the 2.1 debacle in which some users' calendars
and contacts were lost, is this a fix or is it rubbing salt into our wounds? Anyone brave
enough to try it? Tell me it does MUCH, MUCH more than coach the user to locate,
push, and download ! Doc Neutron

What are you talking about?

Re: New App from RIM "Upgrade"
Attachment 123324Attachment 123323I'm talking about a new PB app called "Upgrade" authored by RIM itself.
I loaded it yesterday. Sorry all my plugins are wacked right now and I
cannot say my PB screen shots are AOK. To my above rant I guess we should
add the category "hoax". I agree that it maybe should eventually be placed
under apps, but not yet. Doc Neutron
Re: New App from RIM "Upgrade"
I thought it was a joke and then when I downloaded and launched I was sure it was a joke :rotfl: Good one RIM!!!!
Re: New App from RIM "Upgrade"
:dancing: OK this is Canadian humor, right....right?
Its just a picture that tells you to tap the Upgrade Available icon when it shows up...
...so I'm at Starbucks and the hot barrista chick asks me if I got the latest PlayBook update and I say "they got an app for that."
I know dumb joke, hey I'm only going with the FLOW here...:rotfl:
Re: New App from RIM "Upgrade"
Indeed a strange way of communicating with your customers . Even weirder: according to the app it solves the problem people are having downloading from App World. So if you can't download from App World, how do you get this app? Chicken and egg, or catch-22?
Re: New App from RIM "Upgrade"
Will this work on my 9700?

I'm up-to-date, yet AppWorld is slower than it has ever been. Normally, I expect it to take 5-10 minutes to download a large app.
I'm at 247 of 348 right now, after about three-hours.
Whatever the problem is, let's hope they get this, and other AppWorld problems, sorted before they launch BB10. I can only imagine how the flood of new customers will react!
Re: New App from RIM "Upgrade"
C'mon guys. They worked really, really hard to get this app out to users. You should be glad that it's a Native App and not an android port. :rotfl:
Re: New App from RIM "Upgrade"
Where can I find this app?
Re: New App from RIM "Upgrade"
waiting for the follow up app....PlayBook for dummies :D
Re: New App from RIM "Upgrade"
I paid $3.99 for this upgrade and now when I turn on my PlayBook it connects only to itunes. What gives?
Re: New App from RIM "Upgrade"
Is this a really early April fool's prank on RIM's part?
Re: New App from RIM "Upgrade"
[QUOTE=world saviour;7685324]Where can I find this app?[/QUOTE
First of all, this app does in fact exist on my PB, as I have tried to show via
the screen shots above. Secondly, I have executed it several times; finally,
I can state that when I touch any of the really large "buttons" nothing happens.
I have not found this puppy anywhere in App World. I owe my sanity to those
of you that have spoken up.
Let us not get upset with the folks who created it - they have jobs and families they love.
Sometimes management really messes things up. Doc Neutron

Re: New App from RIM "Upgrade"
I am old but I'm not dead....Seriously, I collect and try to evaluate apps.
I have lost count, but it is well into the 300s. However, I simply do not understand
Apple's claims of hundreds of thousands of apps. Doc Neutron
Re: New App from RIM "Upgrade"
OK here's the Web link:
Free Check for Updates - Download Check for Updates - Free Apps from BlackBerry App World
This is the real meal deal! They actually do have an app for that :p
Re: New App from RIM "Upgrade"
I think either Howard Stern or Jimmy Kimmel put RIM up to this...
Re: New App from RIM "Upgrade"
I think that "app" or rather picture should be part of the OS rather than downloaded via App World... since, you know, it supposedly fixes the problem of downloading apps on App World.
Maybe next they will make an app to show how to power on the PlayBook. :raised-eyebrow:
"Are you having trouble getting your playbook powered on?"...
Re: New App from RIM "Upgrade"
Do Canadians celebrate April 1 for a week in October?
Re: New App from RIM "Upgrade"
Next up, "How to turn on your Playbook" Catch 22 app.
Re: New App from RIM "Upgrade"
I suppose it's the Appworld trying to up the number of available appications by putting out an app just as useful as may we find in the apple store ;)
Re: New App from RIM "Upgrade"
lol that's moronicly awesome. roflmao!!!
Re: New App from RIM "Upgrade"
Hey maybe they're providing some diversion while we patiently wait for our beloved BB10
