My six year old daughter is asking Santa for a Playbook. I am considering it if I can find a good price still. Am I nuts?
But like a lot of people here she'll probably be pissed that there is no native email....

Sure why not? If she is confident and won't buckle under peer pressure from the ones whose parents got them an iFad. Maybe it could be a teachable moment for her to be a leader and not a follower and not to give a rip what her friends think.....
Besides us taxpayers will probably buy her an iFad at school.
lol on the native email...
Santa should get it for her:D
If Santa is listening....I would like another one too :p
If you do get one make sure you get an Otterbox. I have a 2 1/2 year old and a 6 year old and have never had a problem with them using it. I have even caught my 2 1/2 yr old standing on the PlayBook screen.
Heh-heh... kids huh. :)
My son (13) used to want a Playbook for Xmas, but has changed his mind. Apparently, as he explained to me, there is no point in getting him a Playbook of his own because our Playbook works just fine!
I have high hopes for my boy in the future! Look out World! :D
[Sigh] It's cute that your little one wants a Playbook, but in my experience [two daughters, now grown], kids and expensive electronic gadgets tend not to work out too well. Try to get a really good no-questions-asked replacement warranty if you decide to go ahead...
The PlayBook DOES have many great games for children, plus with the flash, you can use all those great flash based children's web sites like disney etc.
Why does a 6 year old need a PlayBook? I still had an etch-a-sketch at that age.
An angel just got its wings.
LOL!But like a lot of people here she'll probably be pissed that there is no native email....
Maybe, just maybe, An Etch-a-sketch at ur day equals PlayBook nowadays :D
Since both can't do native email...
I had a playbook once but lost it to my 3 boys, one 9 and 6 year old twins. I only get to use it after they go to bed so i'm asking Santa to bring a new one just for me! :D
Low blow!
But I still LOL'ed :D
Does she have bb to go with it? :D
Oh yeah. She already uses mine all the time. She loves the kids games I have and is actually better at Need for Speed than I am.
Now kids can have the best of both worlds:
Free MagicScreen - Download MagicScreen - Free Games from BlackBerry App World
She also asked for BBX on a phone by February.
My question is how does she know about the Playbook? She sees yours and wants to emulate Daddy?
The pb is great for kids as they spend a lot of time on sites requiring flash. We have ipads and playbooks at the house and they are on the playbooks constantly. The only issue I have had was that they plugged into the tv so much they eventually trashed the port on one of them which I expected. I didnt bother to get it fixed because they don't want to let the thing go for repairs. It won't take them but a minute or two to figure it out and off they go.
My kids play the PlayBook just as much as the iPad.
The upside of travel, I get it all to myself.
I know that bell in canada is selling 16gb for $299 again until november 17th. might get one for my mom :P
My 8 yr old daughter has no problems downloading whatever free/$ games that are available in app world and listening to her music files. Its a shared family tablet and native email is not missed by anyone.
Yes but etch-a-sketch was the leading edge hi tech tablet of choice then...it was visionary.
OP may want to consider an ipad for this app:
Etch A Sketch HD for iPad for iPad on the iTunes App Store
I'm just wondering how long it will take her to type "sex" into google...regardless, definitely an otterbox requirement.
My wife just told me she wants one for xMas as well.
My 2 yrs old loves the ipad because of the home button, he just likes opening and closing apps like crazy. My 4 yrs old on the other hand, is addicted to PB and will play with it the entire day if I let him.
