Is anyone staying up past midnight to check for software updates in the next coming days?
I went and bought a carpal tunnel wrist support so I can continuously click Check for Updates once every 5 seconds for 16 hours every day. I also hired an assistant to cover off the other 8 hours. His secondary duty is to cycle through various blackberry forums to post "omg RIM wots wrong witchoo!!" posts every day.
You guys are like kids on xmas eve. Except no one knows what day xmas will be on! Just visit the pb forum regularly and when it arrives you won't be able to avoid it. Then after a few days of euphoria the whiners will arrive followed closely by the trolls. Eee gads I'm depressing myself. Sorry. yippee Os2!
For those who can't wait for the OS update. Freeze yourself solid and have a friend or family member unfreeze you when the OS update finally comes out so it seems as if the update came out sooner. Eric Cartman did that when he was waiting for the Nintendo Wii to come out. It didn't work to plan for him but it might work for someone else.
I also work evenings till 9.30pm, so I go to sleep by 2-3am. Trouble is (or isn't) that I rarely remember! I check on CB all the time, so I reckon I'll know soon enough!
Um.. even if the whole idea wasn't silly, the past updates have been coming out around 7-10 am EST, not midnight. Which makes the idea of staying up to 12:01 am everynight just for a software update even sillier.
It doesn't even make logical sense - of course a major update like this is going to occur when the entire RIM tech staff is going to be up and at work (7-10 am est) to handle any potential problems, as well as pr people tohandle annoucements, and not at 1 am when a skeleton staff is on.
Don't wait up. As has been stated many times before, even if there's no announcement, App World will supply a notification that a Bridge update is available prior to the 2.0 release. If you don't have a BB phone, you'll certainly see a flurry of activity here when the Bridge update rolls out.
So until we get a Bridge update, instead of staying up all night needlessly tapping the 'check for updates' button, just lie down, relax and repeat the following until you fall asleep:
