I wonder if this problem is a result of the two email /messaging clients conflicting? I only started experiencing this after installing Dev Beta 2.1
It's a little awkward to use and takes at least a minute to load but I suppose in a pinch it beats rebooting. I maintain there's a bug in the system, however, that is causing problems for many people, even if we are a small minority.
Just thinking, if this is a bug in QNX, then perhaps it carries over to BB10. While it is easy to ignore something like this in Playbooks due to their small numbers, it would translate into a huge problem for BB10 phones if a significant number of them couldn't access mail and calendar without repeated reboots. And since Rim hasn't yet offered a fix ...
HUGE help here, thank you so much. Did you happen to notice the OP's issue went away.
Same problem for me here that just started last night. I thought it was nothing, so I rebooted this morning and all the messages loaded up properly. When I arrived to work it wouldn't sync again but this is only 1 Yahoo mail account.
I have 8 e-mail accounts set up (4 yahoo, 1 hotmail, 1 verizon, 2 gmail) and only 1 of the yahoo's aren't working which I find odd. Says the IMAP settings are working. Glad to know I'm not the only one with this problem.
Hopefully this gets resolved soon. Usually a reboot fixes things but not this time around.
While a reboot fixes it, there is no warning when it goes down so you cannot rely on timely notification of emails or use of email and calendar when needed, and when you discover your accounts have crashed (again), you face the lengthy reboot to get them back.
I tried the other day to access my phone's calendar, memos, etc in Bridge and got a message that the website could not be opened because the network wasn't available (the standard message you get when you're trying to go online without a connection) and it continued until I got home and was back on wifi. I could still get new messages as they came in on my phone but not access the ones that were already on the phone at the time I turned on Bridge.
I had a similar problem only once, just after the last OS update in Feb. At that time I deleted the accounts, rebooted the PlayBook and reinstalled the mail accounts. It has been great ever since along with the calendar.
I too have been experiencing this issue in the last few weeks...I have three email accounts all from different providers, one gmail, one yahoo, and one earthlink. The earthlink account was the only one with the issue. My fix was also to delete the offending account and set it back up. Now it has been working for the past few days...this is the first time it has happened to me and I didn't do anything specific to cause the issue (installing an app, changing wifi networks, etc.)...
As far as the other issue not related to email connectivity, we "put up with this crap" because our positive experiences outweigh our negative ones. I have never known any electronic device to run perfectly and without defect... I have even been able to freeze a digital watch lmao...we are all entitled to our own opinion, however there is a reason this is called crackberry forums and not kindle fire forums...
I don't know if anyone else has noticed this issue but it seems to correlate with how only certain e-mail accounts are "broken" on the PB messages app.
On my PB, I have two yahoo accounts that are now always asking for the password now and can't sync. I followed the advice of deleting the two accounts, rebooting, and re-adding the two accounts and all seemed fine for about an hour. After that it kept asking for the passwords over and over again like before.
Now on to the Blackberry handset portion of the problem. It would seem that the two accounts that have problems on the PB are having problems syncing on my phone as well. Sometimes it takes about 15 minutes before a message I delete on my phone is deleted from the main mail box. It also works vice versa, where sometimes I get the e-mails as a blast and 5-10 messages com in at the same time but they're actual time stamps are off by when they actually came in versus when actually received.
Maybe its just coincidence that PB messages and BB messages have issues but I just wanted to bring this to everyone's attention. I'm on VZW with a Bold 9930.
It got to the point where I was having to reboot every day. Even then, one or more of my accounts would shortly revert to 'unconnected'. A couple days ago I started to get frequent 'reenter password' messages, but always for a specific account.
Yesterday I deleted then recreated all accounts. So far, so good ...but I'll post again after a three day test period.
Has anyone solved this issue or hopefully RIM is notified of this problem. Now all four of my Yahoo accounts don't work. The only accounts that work now are my 2 gmail's but the other 4 yahoo accounts all start showing the "enter password" box come up. Maybe it's a yahoo issue though nobody can know for sure.
Rim knows about it but hasn't fixed it. I wonder if this problem carries over to BB10. I'm sure that would go down well with buyers (and reviewers) -- unreliable email and calendar on a smartphone. That alone would sink BB10.
Deleting, then recreating all my email accounts seems to have solved my problems. It only took a few minutes, and I have had no problems at all for four or five days.
Simply rebooting, or using Memory Eater to crash Messages (as somebody suggested), didn't solve anything for me.
