    can someone help me understand how my memory shows 24.9 g available when all i have
    added is about a dozen songs and two very small vids......is the preloaded stuff taking that
    space....

    It's 32GB raw unformatted capacity. Just like when you buy a 2TB hard drive and format it you get 1.8TB. Drives are also generally sold with 1000MB = 1GB, while software does 1024MB = 1GB. Assuming formatting/measurement loss of 10% (reasonable rule of thumb) that's about 29GB. The OS and base apps take over a gigabyte, it wouldn't take much more to bring it down to 24.9GB.

    I would be happy with 24 gigs.. i started with 14gigs... To answer your question it is storing your os and some of the drive is unusable like any hard drive...
    You must have used about 6 gigs of something
