Today, when I got home I noticed that side of my PB seemed all melted. Not sure what happened here.

I'd bought it in December last year. Will try for getting this fixed from RIM.

Can you guys suggest what happened, though probably seems like a battery leak issue? However, I've not noticed any degrade in battery performance till now.

Yes, the charger was plugged in but it was not switched on.

THat looks like the side by the speaker. Never had any of the Playbooks get hot over there. The center back...yes. That's odd. I would think RIM would replace it with a like model as it is probably an internal issue.

There have been posts by others with similar issues. Speculation was that it was a battery problem. Definitely contact RIM.

frankly speaking RMA process is very tiring here in india and I've already gone through this once (my first pb won't give hdmi outpit).

but I don't have any choice now.

That's rather unfortunate. Def looks like melted rubber or glue.

I sent mine in for repair and they had it fixed and back to me in 5 days. Although I think they will just send you another unit..wow.

Seeing as there's no scorching on the glass screen or warping on the metal case, I highly doubt it.
