In my opinion a magsafe-style cable can be done to charge the playbook by some 3rd party, using the cradle port.

What do you think about it?

I believe MagSafe is patented by Apple and therefore no that cannot be done. If im not mistaken.

Yes, now I remember that they sued that battery maker that provided an unofficial magsafe connector.

But I was thinking to 3rd parties manufacturers, like those unknown makers in China

Rim already has a NON-dock rapid charger. Are you suggesting a cheaper 3rd party one?

Yes I was meaning that kind of charger!
I did not know there was that kind of official charger!
I like that style, I was thinking "RIM won't do that due to patent issues"

I don't know about patent issues but it is faster and it saves wear and tear on the usb port.

I've got one. Yes, it's a magnetic connector. You can get one here, though they're not cheap.

You can find them on sale periodically. You just need to keep looking around. I bought mine on sale at Walmart for $20 a while back.

    Here's one from Amazon.

got my rapid charger from amazon for $25, worth every penny. Was working on it and got down to 10%, got up charged it while I took a snack break ~ 15 mins and I was back up at 20% or so. I believe it's 1.5~2 hrs to charge from 0-100. And the magnetic connection is awesome.. so easy to plug in n' take off.

I would like to see one set up as a car charger.

Clumsy but you could get one of those small cigarette lighter inverters and plug the non-dock charger into that. I've got one I purchased a while back from Radio Shack.

The micro sd charging port on my playbook is broken. meaning I have no way to charge it. Is there an alternative way to charge my playbook without buying a new playbook.?

I like your idea but some 3rd party developed equipment for my Bold and PlayBook have left a lot to be desired. My first car charger was a Chinese knockoff of a RIM model and lasted one month. Replaced it with $30 RIM and been going strong. The quality of RIM accessories to my knowledge have been fantastic and shows you do get what you pay for.
