I mean...come on, you know those Android names: Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich. And what does RIM come out with? OS 1.0.8 point blah, blah, blah. Let's get clever. Let's get colorful. Maybe even a little ethnic. Chime in with your own names.

I'd rather leave the cutesy names to the Linux distros: Beefy Miracle, Oneric Ocelot, squeeze, etc.

"Marmite Surprise" - coz you either love it or hate it!

The Marmite reference might not travel beyond the UK. Apologies if you're scratching your heads.

Why not refer to it as a dessert? We can refer to OS 1.0 as BlackBerry Tart, and OS 2.0 as BlackBerry Cobbler.....

Well, I had a lot of non-dessert options, but why stop at food? How about Cocker Spaniel Puppy. That's cute.

    I've got it:

    Bob

But you have to pronounce it the same way Blackadder does.....

Android has been using cutesy names and look at the pathetic quality of the hardware and software. If BlackBerry PlayBook Tablet Operating System 2.0 needs a cutesy name then let's go with something with some bite...and maybe some bark...say "Bite Me!"

I think they should stick to the simple number system. The cutesy names lose their cutesy-ness after a while and you often get locked into a pattern you may not want in the long run. Plus, it ends up being very insider-ish and just causes confusion to the gen pop. How many people know that Android 4 is the same as Ice Cream Sandwich? Froyo or Honeycomb, which came first? Oh, is it alphabetical? It just creates confusion.

This is for FUN folks.. Be a little more light hearted and let's just have some good times. It sure beats posting the same ol' help problem solutions that most don't even read... yanno?

How about Kevin's "Ham Sandwich"? BUT since that is not an option for the poll... I'll go with BARSKIN! LOL

Wait, I have another idea! Matza Ball Soup. Now, that's what they should call OS 2. I'm going to call Thorsten tomorrow, first thing.

Then, again, as good as Matza Ball Soup is, I just thought of another good one. How about The Operating System Formerly Known as Prince.

As much as I favour "Barskin" ... and voted for it too ... if one is looking for an ideal name then shouldn't we add upon the notion of berries

2.0 could be blueberry ... or strawberry ... or gooseberry ... or raspberry (now that would be somewhat fitting ... we get raspberry at which point we can give the nay-sayers the raspberry! ) ... but I definitely think we should avoid (like the plague) "bumbleberry". No that one would be a marketing nightmare!

    Sorry Jafobabe

Since QNX has UNIX roots, we should go old school geek and name them in Klingonese. OS2 would be Jak'tahla and the next release could be Qapla'. When they start licensing the OS to other manufacturers, that version would be Sli-Vak.

Keeping with the Canadian roots, I propose "Twoonie" or in keeping with Heins, "Rock 'n' Roll ver. 2.0"
