How about something that plays off the multitasking aspect of the Playbook? If using food I think of something that has layers to it. A great French pastry is called "Mille Feuilles" which means "a thousand layers". It is sweet, rich, stylish and clearly has depth! All attributes of the Playbook! It can be found worldwide so is familiar to many (see this Wikipedia article http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mille-feuille). As a name I think "Mille Feuille" (pronounced as "mill foy") has that "stickiness factor" as described by Malcolm Gladwell that makes people remember. People like saying exotic or fancy sounding phrases

    Mac has Animals

Since RIM is Canadian IMO the Hockey idea was brilliant.

    Icing
    Hat Trick (OS 3.0 obviously)
    Breakaway

Tons of others the I don't remember.

Names are good, being a copycat, not so much IMHO.

I've been accidentally calling the PlayBook a Playberry.
Got my mother-in-law one for Christmas and she still calls it a PlayBoy. Seriously, I was helping her, she got a phone call and told them her son-in-law was helping her with her new PlayBoy. We (wife and I) have corrected her numerous times but I'm now known as the son-in-law that got her a PlayBoy for Christmas.

Here are some more Hockey terms I think are perfect, taken from Glossary of ice hockey terms - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Deke (the meaning is near perfect)
Pepper Pot (ok, this is the perfect name)
    Power Play
    Slot
    Icing
    Hooking
    Facing
    Clipping
    Breakaway

The list goes on and on...

The playbook is unique, be unique, dont do food IMO.

I think they should use the Q is QNX for all their products. You can have a QPhone or QTablet or QAccessory. There's nothing wrong with BBQ. Everyone loves BBQ.

2.0 could be blueberry ... or strawberry ... or gooseberry ... or raspberry
I had a pink Curve I referred to as my StrawBerry. It survived drowning, falling on streets at 20 mph, and a very active child. A sink full of dishes was its final downfall...

But fruit related names make the most sense... doesn't mean we can't get crazy like "Peanut Butter Cup" or "Could Kill Me Without Trying"...

Or Seven of Nine from Star Trek Voyager, wait, no, that's back to numbers. Trill is the better idea. Introducing the first Starship Enterprise ready tablet: the BlackBerry PlayBook with OS Trill!
