Do you even own a z10? Opens PDF files with out issues, so does my playbook. Don't blame blackberry when I doubt it had anything to do with the devices.

It may be the Z10 I have is a lemon. The morning after I got it the phone couldn't send or receive texts. I spent 2 1/2 hours on the phone with Telus. We tried everything. Then finally had to do a wipe. It worked again. Please let me know what to set the format/permissions to open up files. I really want to make this work.
Congrats on the new purchase! I also just bought one for about $115 shipped. Its a refurbished unit, but i really like it, and it does all i need it to do. BlackBerry Bridge is pretty sweet too. Just fun to play around with. I've messed with Android tablets and they're just too buggy. I know it can do more, and out perform, but the PB is more polished and smooth. None of that choppy crap on Android tablets. Overall i am happy, and i love it! Enjoy yours
If you bought your PB without looking forward on BB10, most likely, you've done the right thing...
Same thing when I purchased my 1st PB... but my 2nd PB is different story... I bought it, not only it is cheap, but because of the propaganda that it will be upgraded to BB10... now, I found another 64GB PB... cheap again!... but, I probably need to stop doing the wrong thing...
Big improvement with no flash. Much less tendency to skip out to a ad Site. Not sure about the java. I will experiment. Makes my PB useful maybe for the first time.
Your "big 3" things you want done, it will do wonderfully!
Just curious why you didn't choose the much more powerful, app-rich Nexus 7? Price is almost as good. I strongly advise in the next few days you compare it with the PB and be sure you have what you want.
Good choice since the price of PB is more reasonable now than first time releasing. ( I bought mine at that time ><" )
Bought mine in September, from Curry's because of the price. Does everything i want it to do, and does it well. Researched before I bought it, so I was aware of its strengths and weaknesses. I purchased the apps i use and sideloaded the ones i couldnt get from App World. Have no interest in Instagram, netflix or skype. Dont have any buffering issues either!
Would suggest to OP if you are going to keep it then invest in either a travel charger or cradle, and a long HDMI cable
Oh Boy, one day away and so many replies. I never thought I would get any... nice surprise. We are active on this forum!! I have just been using the browser... absolutely chuffed. It is very good indeed. Next week, I shall setup email and maybe transfer contacts at some time.
Thanks guys for all your replies. BTW, I went via Quidco and got 10% off and bought the warranty as well; probably won't need it but it does cover mishaps - total cost just under 147 :)
Welcome to the Forums! I have had my pb for over a year and I use it every day. It has mostly replaced my laptop for browsing the internet, and it's perfect for note taking in meetings at work. I also load up my pdf's for any courses I'm taking and use it for studying. I have the addition of the Blackberry mini keyboard which has doubled the pb's usefulness for me.
The built in adobe reader is okay for reading pdf files. There is a very good pdf reader - called pdfreader - in appworld if you want something that can bookmark. It is supposed to get updated with note making abilities but haven't seen that yet. If you do need to make notes, qpdf is a good app but more expensive.
Be sure to check out the apps forums. Many of devs are very active in the forums and are happy to answer questions.
Enjoy your playbook!
I've had mine since one month after release. love it! I've used it daily since then. use it often and use the forums. lots of information here to get you through any confusing times
