- I have a PlayBook purchased on launch day.
I would be furious if BlackBerry spent one single penny on this 3.5 year old tech! There are so few users left today, it would be ludicrous.
Like another poster had stated, PlayBook was supported for almost 3 years with some updates. The original iPad was supported for only 2 years. Case closed.
And btw, the original P'9981 sold over 170,000 units by itself. HUGE profits.

- Just a couple more souls, who'll figure out the hard way, a petition has no "strength in numbers" if the addressed company doesn't acknowledge the whole petition anyway...10-17-14 05:55 AMLike 0

PlayBook UK BBM Channel C001CB4A110-17-14 06:24 AMLike 0 - You do realize that BB will not put even one person/tech/coder/anybody onto OS2.xxxxxx. It's done, and over.
They have moved on, no matter how many signatures are submitted. It's just another fact of life....

The BlackBerry Bold and Curve I bought in 2011 haven't had an update in well over a year too. I guess I should be enraged and offended.
Z30STA100-5/10.3.1.63210-17-14 10:34 AMLike 0 - Funny how some people keep missing the basic point of this petition. I fully agree that it's over btw but for slightly different reasons...
anon(5597702) and PlayBook UK like this.10-17-14 11:00 AMLike 2 - The issue is basic stuff added to it. The old HP tablet, before it was let go, had basic things to it, the iPad1,2....basic stuff to it....a pattern here I am making. Eventually all models will hit their point, yet you can still use them for they have basic stuff. The PlayBook didn't get that altogether. At least this is what I gathered from the petition when I signed and still to this day support. Just something, for which it didn't get fr the start.

- Do you honestly believe that someone's decision to stick with BlackBerry going forward hinges on whether or not they release another update for their 3.5 year old tablet? Really? And if so, how many people? BlackBerry would need to perform a return on investment analysis. I simply do not see any valid business case for this.

But yeah if BB10 for PB came out, even a stripped down version, I would go get a BB10 device as soon as I had the cash.Last edited by ThaSwapMeetPimp; 10-21-14 at 08:06 PM.
Cynycl and AllanQuatermain like this.10-21-14 07:54 PMLike 2 - It does. Mine does. And I doubt I am the only one. If they did release BB10 for PB, I would gladly go out and get the latest and greatest BB phone. As it is, I am just getting the most out of my investment. I am still rockin my BB Bold 9900, until it dies, and my PlayBook, and then I am done with BlackBerry. Maybe even with phones and tablets because I dont like or trust any of the companies out there or the agendas of their founders or R & D heads (Gates/depopulation agenda , Apple/I just hate Apple and the iHerd & Kurtzweils/transhumanism and digital immortality is only for the elite (its really for no one who wants to keep their soul, fyi)). Though I did help my sister out by letting her get me a Galaxy Light for my b-day (she got a 200 dollar gift card for getting us to switch from BlackBerry (specifically, switching from BlackBerry) that paid for that one and my gf's Light that she bought her for her b-day a couple weeks before), just didnt activate the SIM, installed a stripped down OS and turned it into a Pirate Box (called Tha Swap Meet :P )/Kali Linux/Emulator device that I am calling my "Deck" (Shadowrun, anyone?). But it is no longer a phone in the traditional sense, I am not texting or making calls or looking stuff up on it or anything like that, that Google can use for their mission (hate Google).

PlayBook UK likes this.10-22-14 04:45 AMLike 1 - Better make that two and then add in all the other device recommendations to friends and family who have since purchased devices that weren't blackberry. Then add their recommendations to their friends etc etc. In my neck of the woods I know for a fact that it has counted for a loss of at least fifty device sales and directly due to their preybook fiasco.10-23-14 03:27 PMLike 3
- I wonder how many Android tablet owners with Android 2.0 screamed like we do upon finding out there would be no hardware updates to 2.1, 3.x or 4.x?
I see the way forward in development for product as tablets dying down and larger phone and phablets(whatever that name is) replacing the majority or sales. Makes sense as the one thing I find lacking in the PB is a phone. The new Passport is more interesting than any new tablet or.phone I am reading about. If it can gain traction, it might be emulated and expanded on.
The PB has out lasted my kid's 2.0 Android and 2.3 tablets in terms of core functionality and hard ware and he has migrated t an iPad Mini, paying an insane price for it. He carries it daily but night switches to his desktop to get work done. I can get more work done than he can on his iPad with my old, obsolete, terrible, door stop PB. So, while many of you cry, I will keep being ignorant and simple minded and continue to use the PB as my main computer.dmlis likes this.10-26-14 11:05 AMLike 1 - I wonder how many Android tablet owners with Android 2.0 screamed like we do upon finding out there would be no hardware updates to 2.1, 3.x or 4.x?

I would.jtv1 likes this.10-26-14 11:33 AMLike 1 - The unlikely fix that would satisfy most people is a PlayBook 2 with good specs running a tablet optimized version of BB10 at a reasonable price point. If that was on the horizon, most people that are still diehard PlayBook fans would breath a sigh of relief and go right out and get it.

Edit: Oh, and just for the novelty of it, they would have to light the pile with a BlackBerry Torch they had set on fire.11-06-14 07:53 AMLike 0 - And you might want to address your needle problem, as it's clearly stuck in the groove...anon(5597702) likes this.11-06-14 10:50 AMLike 1

The fact that our company simply missed out that basic fundamental pattern, of finishing off the job on their device.
Something I believe major company players, look at and say. "I wonder if the potential client/customer, will look into how we deal with our business as a whole.
How we manage our employees, our company name, DEVICES.
Example: Over a year ago, there was three ways of connecting to every form of business, 'well here in the UK' wherever it was for fun, socialising, work.
Apple, Android and BlackBerry
Was marked on everything.
Not even in some places now and that includes where BlackBerry is used in enterprise.
We need to stop slipping or we need to get off the magic-round-about
Regardless of this fact, am hanging on to my BB
