With the wifi-only Samsung Tab being priced at $499, does this mean RIM will have to price the Playbook even lower to compete? Also heard that the 16gb ipad will be $399 at Target, so how low does RIM have to go?

The playbook has better specs than the galaxy tab so there is no reason why they would need to undercut it's price to compete and you would expect that lower ipad prices would have to be official pricing rather than limited discounting to have any impact on rim, but in saying that they are going to want to be as aggressive as possible to build some momentum before 2nd gen ipads and other android tabs show up.

Low price is a must before I spend the $$ - mainly 'cuz of two negatives:
    1. No Micro-SD card slot.
    2. App support is a huge unknown.

I can tether any tablet to my existing BB, so I'm gonna buy the first 7" tablet that is fast, can take a micro-SD card, uses STANDARD connectors, and has decent battery life. I can live without a micro-SD card slot IF the 32gb model is "affordable", but I just can't see the wisdom in paying an extra $150 to $200 for memory.

With the price difference between the different memory sizes, I almost guarantee there's no expandable memory.

We already got confirmation there's no micro SD support. The only possibility is if you can install more storage in the expansion slot, or don't mind using USB drives (they did say that will be supported).
