Interesting find w/ desktop dock

This week, I've been viewing the BB10 developer webcast on my PlayBook. I usually have the PlayBook on the desktop dock while watching, but today, I was away from my desk when the webcast started.

While watching the webcast, the screen would time out after a few minutes. Swiping across the screen would wake everything up, and audio would return right away. I plugged the rapid charger in, hooping it might stop the sleep mode from kicking in, but it still would turn off the screen after a few minutes.

When I got back to my desk, I put the PlayBook on the dock and it didn't go to sleep for the rest of the webcast. I always thought that the rapid charger would have the same setup as the dock (since it uses the same pogo contacts), but apparently there really is something different to let the PlayBook know it is docked.

You got it Pontiac. The dock isn't like the rapid charger.

I love the dock that's why I bought 3 of them :)

Yep, another reason I bought 2 of them and you can get one for under $20 shipped with no tax.

Dafuq! I bought one (told my friend in the US to order from CB and brought it when she visited my country) for full price before.
Oh well.. I'm waiting for her to return here again :D
Going to buy my 2nd and 3rd one with that price!

I would like the TRAVEL rapid charger at that price. That's the one with the wired magnetic plug that fits even with many cases on the pb.
