- I k ow there are others that have had problems but I have always had good battery life. I use it off and on through out my work day for many tasks. Than in the evening I attach it HDMI to my TV and watch exactly what I want. So from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. At the end of a typical day I still have 20-25% battery.02-02-12 05:01 PMLike 0
- I think they have done some tweaks to the battery life over the various OS updates. I find that OS2.0 is a bit higher on the usage side, but nothing drastically crazy.02-02-12 06:18 PMLike 0

- i find the playbooks battery to be average at best. My 8900 will easily outlast the playbook while bridged together. I find i lose about 10% a hour, and dont get me wrong...thats not bad, but i dont feel like im using the playbook that much to be losing that kind of power. im hoping this improves with OS2 but i do think that playbooks battery life is acceptable right now
Its a brand new OS so im sure they have plenty of optimizing left to do02-02-12 09:23 PMLike 0 - I too have found my PB to have excellent battery life. I'm comparing to two other brand tablets we have/had in the house and the PB averages within an hour of the iPad2. iPad1 had better battery life than the 2. I'm good for a solid work day and evening of mixed heavy/light use.jafobabe likes this.02-02-12 09:35 PMLike 1
- Wait, wait..the PB loses 10% every hour even on stand by? If that's true, that diffidently a problem they should look into.02-02-12 10:15 PMLike 0

i just personally feel like there is much room to improve when it comes to battery life02-02-12 10:39 PMLike 0 -
in btw, I bought a 16GB on the launch date and got a 64GB one lately, for some reason I find the 64GB version getting a far better battery life, also the above described usecase is for the new 64GB model.02-02-12 10:46 PMLike 0 - It's been 4 days since I unplugged from the charger, used intermittently(15-20 minutes of daily usage of mostly being couch surfing) and now still at 65% now.

lol mayb i have a problem, because i have mine on me all day. ever since i put the SNES emulator on it i cant put it down. dont even like using my laptop anymore ha.
We'll see what the new software does for the playbook though02-02-12 11:21 PMLike 0 - Here is what I mean when I say QNX on the Playbook needs more power optimization (see the attached table*).
Compare the battery life of the Playbook (7 hrs) to that of the Galaxy Tab 7.7 (12 hrs). Almost the same form factor / size, with the Tab having a bigger screen and a smaller capacity battery (5,100mah vs the PB's 5,300mah).
I hope that OS 2.0 is more optimized and we will see some improvement in battery life.
*Source: Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 review (global edition) -- Engadget02-07-12 10:33 PMLike 0 - Also worth mentioning that the PlayBook probably has better battery life than the table in that article suggests. It sounds like they may simply have set the backlights at 50% without taking into account actual brightness levels. With the PlayBook having a screen that is apparently brighter than the competition at similar brightness "percent" settings, it seems it may be at a disadvantage in such tests unless they use a brightness meter to standardize the test.kennyliu likes this.02-07-12 11:40 PMLike 1

As for the brightness, you may be correct. But AFAIK the new Tab's screen is about 400 nits vs 600 nits on the PB. Is this (100 nits at 50%) such a significant difference that would explain the almost 80 percent battery consumption difference.Last edited by kennyliu; 02-08-12 at 12:19 AM.

Besides, I am comparing two tablets with almost the same battery capacity and almost the same size.Last edited by kennyliu; 02-08-12 at 12:19 AM.
