Mutter mutter.......never goin to bekum a moderator if that kat keeps getting me in troubles.....that's my kareer over nows.......
It tells me you need to check what else if available.
well if it works for him and he was happy with it, plus 60 quid for something you already know is probably better spent than 120 on something you don't.
somebody is buying them up on the second hand market.
it isn't obsolete old tech, it is still current tech but a little slower - people moaned about ipads being older specced hardware but the advertising made up for it. apple got lucky where the pc and phone industry failed. BB thought they could build it as cheap as apple and make as much money on it as apple - they were proved wrong but it doesn't make the playbook a bad buy compared to say a netbook.
when you look at the cheap asteroid pads being sold as entry level machines the playbook holds its own rather well. the closest thing here to a second hand playbook out there is probably the hudl which has a quad core better screen resolution and an expansion slot to make up for the 16gb. tesco are desperate to do an amazon and they just might do it.
Its cool.. OS and cameras and Speakers
but still it sucks..
hell of issues and problems..
In light of recent events id say yes you are lol! But go for it if thats what you think will work for you.
Jesse its time to cook.....
Congratulations, you missed the point entirely. It is pretty much irrelevant that the PB specs out close to some cheap androids because even those cheapo androids have access to the Android market and the Pb doesn't. I would still bet, however, that those cheapo androids work more smoothly than does the Pb.
You would be mistaken on that point, although, "work more smoothly" is a bit difficult to define.
The Playbook still has a better screen and audio than most Android devices, cheapo or not.
I have been waiting for an Android tablet that is enough better than the Playbook to encourage me to switch. It hasn't happened yet.
I still can't believe US DHS granted SOM citizenship. The wheelbarrow-totting mobile computing experience drunkard must have been handing out bottles of Irish whiskey.

Direct Quote from RIM/Blackberry in Jan 2013
RIM's Heins also touched on BlackBerry's tablet strategy. He said all existing PlayBook tablets will be upgraded to BB10--but he was more circumspect about the company's future tablet plans. "The way we look at tablets right now is it is difficult on a cost to profits standpoint," Heins said, "so we are still exploring various use cases for it."

Q10 running10.2.1.1055 leak and loving it!
I have 3, 64GB (my personal one I bought new) and a 32GB and a 4G 32GB. I use my 64 more than the others. Mainly the 32 is for the kids, and the 4G 32GB is my company issued one (the WiFi 32 is replacing the 4G 32 that the power button got intermittant on, but got better, my company didn't care to get the broken one back). It is faster, but lacking the memory of my 64GB. I love having 64GB.....
I have thought about replacing my 64, but honestly I can't see why. It does so much so well. It does lack some software, but reality, I have most all what I need on it. 1M apps is meaningless if you have the 10-20 that you need. Which I do.
I would like to see a larger one, a 9-10" Playbook with a thinner black bar around the edge so to maximize the display, 2-4GB ram, BB10 and the option of 4G. I don't use the 4G functionality, don't really need it.
The audio and great keyboard are the attractions for me, but I'm pretty much converted to a Nexus 7 for mobile use. I use two PBs as alarm clocks bedside and on desk at work -- and audio devices -- sitting in docks. Those speakers are as good as a large alarm clock. Stream podcasts and leave the digital clock app on when it's sitting there. High class alarm clock and listen to whatever you want without commercials.
Yes. Because the hardware spec is outdated.

Not mistaken at all. While the PB has a nice screen, it is definitely not "better .. than most Android devices, cheapo or not". At 177 ppi, it is now at the low end of available screens. Even the 224 ppi on my Sony Xperia Z is now considered pretty low-end but it is technically enhanced so as to be competitive with ipad 4. I'll give it to you on the PB's audio, however.
As far as smooth operation, there is no comparison between my Xperia and my PB. To give an example, I fired up the TED Talks app on both, and watched half of one show on the Z before that same show even launched on the PB. Web browsing is faster and much smoother on the Z than the PB using either Browser or Origami. Using email is a breeze compared to the lengthy lags on the PB when trying to delete many emails. And lets not even get into the appallilng lack of quality apps or dysfunctional emulated android apps we've been given.
My complaint with the PB was never the device itself. It was and remains pretty impressive in some respects. But it is greatly handicapped by an OS that was always deeply in need of better optimization (consider the new iPad Air that runs on the same one gig of ram the PB has, yet can run circles around it and keep numerous apps open). The other thing is the near-total lack of support from BB for ensuring the PB was kept up to date so as to attract app developers or be able to run android apps properly. As it is, most android apps I've tried on the PB either don't work at all (the majority), or limp along awhile before typically crashing. A faster processor and some more ram would have gone a long way to make emulated android apps run decently, and thus make the entire device competitive with current tabs.
If you are waiting for an android tablet that is "enough better" and claim there isn't one, you will obviously never be satisfied. There are at least half a dozen tabs out there comparable, or even better, than my Z, starting in the low 200s (for 7-inchers). All of these run much more smoothly and faster than the PB, and have vastly many more apps to work with and functions a PB owner can only dream of (aGPS, remote, pic syncing, IR, NFC, to name a few).
The world of tablets has really advanced in the past 12 months. So the choice is yours: waste your time (literally) with essentially obsolete technology that never really worked as it should have, or spend some bucks and get something that represents current technology and that you will find is much more useful and enjoyable to use.
Can your Android tablet play Flash yet?
Yes, it does. You just u/l it from Adobe, com. I think most if not all androids can run it.
So I can go and buy a 64 gb second hand but great condition Wifi only playbook for 50.
I'm really tempted as I love my Z10 and have never owned a tablet.
Just wanted an owners opinion.
All replies appreciated.
