Different strokes for different folks. Clearly, as all of our various threads show - folks want different things. Different sizes, resolutions, lte/4g/wifi. Throw a bunch of tablets at the wall and see which one or ones stick and sell. Discard the others - some companies have the resources to try different strategies. Rim did not have the wherewithal to even follow through on one.
BlackBerry threw their tablet at a wall. A brick wall.
Sigh.....

True.
I really dislike Samsung hardware. It feels very cheap and it is uninspired in my opinion.

But they're inconsistently used. Not like on the PlayBook where they're globally implemented. Bottom left corner diagonal swipe = keyboard, always. Anyhow, you just don't know what you're going to get on Android. They leave it up to the app devs to figure out and the experience is usually horrible. Though I despise the checkerboarding of the stock PB browser and the useless implementation of its bookmark manager, it is a joy to use for fullscreen browsing from a UI perspective with it's swipe down from the top to reveal URL bar and swipe up or down to hide it again. It's just a natural way to use things. Same with closing apps similar to how webOS performed, flinging them off the screen. 99% of the time you can't even properly close an app in Android anyhow. They just sit in the background eating resources...
I really like Samsung hardware, high quality and reliable - netbooks, phones, tv's etc!
I disagree with you. BB OS is developed and has a lot of potential. Gestures are the way to go in future. Why would a company who has money and resources drop a successfully proven OS that actually works and has developers supporting it. BB patents are obviously a crme de la crme.
I have a discussion like this with a co-worker from time to time, but it goes "Microsoft should by BBRY". Regardless of who the potential suitor is, I really see fewer and fewer features which are as relevant. RIM devices were known for data compression, so were popular to help keep data plan costs low; this is now history with the new devices. BBM? Going to be released to all devices. Ecosystem? Need to upgrade servers to use new BBRY devices. I don't think it's all doom and gloom, as the Z10 seems to be getting better and app support is increasing. I think the device is actually quite good, but just late to the game. It'll be interesting to see if BBRY can grab enough attention in the market (which they aren't doing as of yet).
Short story; most companies who are potentially looking at a BBRY takeover are probably waiting for the company to crash and burn and then scoop it up for cheap.
