Plug for 10 seconds and remove, keep repeating, un till charging sticks.

Common issue with many electronic devices left to drain completely.

Plug the charger to a power strip and turn it off and on by its switch. Doing it that way will save wear and tear on the USB port. Either that or use a rapid charger to 'stack charge' the device

Trying to stack charge the device off a PC isn't going to get it. You need to use a proper charger.

That happened to mine once, quite some time ago. I tried the stack charge (on for 10-15 seconds, off for 10-15 seconds. ). Did that for 5 minutes or so, then I gave up and just left it to charge . To my surprise, it worked!
Needless to say, I never let the battery die ever again.

Edit: I used the quick charger. Not much wear & tear on the magnets.

Lithium batteries should never be left to drained. It falls into "deep" discharge and sometime it cannot be recoverable

Charging USB to PC will not be enough. Especially only 6 hrs. You have to use a wall charger, preferably a rapid (magnetic) charger. Let the yellow/green LED pulse to solid green. Then try to power it on.

Common issue... in a pigs eye.
If you can name any other non-blackberry device that requires stack charging I will apologize and owe you a beer.
They must have been incredibly desperate to release a product that requires stack charging.
