- What is with all the post about people loving the PB yet they bash it at the same time? Then they go on about how wonderful the glorious iPad is. The kicker is that the OP are almost always noobs! With the technology we have at hand to research products before we buy them I can't understand what the big deal is. If you got it for Christmas research it and if it is't what you want get something else. If you don't like the PB why post about it? I think it's a good product with lots of good things coming down the pike, if you can't wait there are plenty of other tablets on the market to choose from.

- To be fair, IMO the iPad 2 is a fantastic device and the PB is also a very good device in need of some more maturation and development (and hopefully RIM will be able to wait out the storm while that occurs). Dropping the price brought a lot more users in and hopefully that will provide a shot in the arm for the franchise. I love the interface but am definitely going to use it as my backup tablet for those time when I need access to my work email and when I want to use my work's data connection through my work-provided BB Bold rather than my own data via IOS devices.Willard814 likes this.01-03-12 09:36 AMLike 1
- so, somebody goez to the store and buys a playbook on sale. gets home and sets it up and boom they notice no email, address book and so on. it does happen you know, not everyone spends all day on the tech blogs and forums. they decide to look things up online before taking it back and one of the first thing google finds for you is this forum. so, being the average user they post a question and get slammed. why? are blackberry users so defensive now that this is the only way to react? i have read people on this site complaining about this and i dont get it. are you all so insecure about your tech desision that u get this defensive? why attack new users? dont you think rim could use a few in the tablet space?
i see it this way. there seems to be a pervasive feeling in people these days (i believe its from all the social networking) that they need other people to validate their tech choices. i dont mean like the chevy vs ford war or anything like that but wow, why does it matter so much.
on point, sorry. OP? not to be a trouble maker but why does it bother you so much? - We live in a society where people don't want to accept their faults and biases, instead, choose to be victims. The posts by these love/haters of the PB all have a familiar theme, "....I really like my PB, but blah, blah, blah....and when I look at the iPad and see what the PB doesn't blah, blah, blah...."
I agree with the OP, do your research before you buy; that way you already know what you're getting into. With all the high tech toys some of these posters boast about having, I'm wondering if it's all a lie, since all that high tech served them absolutely no purpose when it came to doing diligent research. The overwhelming impression I get from these naysayers is that they have been brutally victimized by RIM.Last edited by alnamvet68; 01-03-12 at 09:51 AM.

- You nailed it when you said they are noobs. It is not really their own forum they are border crossers. Lurkers from other platforms can't stand what they read here about us being happy enough to sign up and say something about it.. then there is the professional troll aspect that many will deny exists.Willard814 and JK-PhD like this.01-03-12 09:55 AMLike 2

I don't appreciate anymore of it than is valid and legitimate.
Just today there is a thread about lack of native email by someone that owns a BB phone but "does not want to bridge" why would anyone not want to bridge? It also is ignorant of the fact that native email is coming soon , is also available as android apps. People get the idea from threads like this that bridging is a pain and that email can't be checked on a playbook. valid criticism is fine, but sometimes it is just malicious invalid stuff.
There is a distinct difference and the difference is usually made clear by posting history. I always say give newbies a chance to rant...I understand frustration and a need to rant, but if there is a pattern and it continues over time even after problems have been addressed - then it becomes suspect. You have to ask what the motivation is and if that frustrated or hateful of playbook why be here? Harassment? Go to a fan forum of what you are a fan of.

I've said it before that it's a sad state when you come to a site that is suppose to be dedicated to helping other users and you have to preface your concern with "I love my ____ BUT" in hopes of avoiding being belittled.
I frequent other forums and if I have a concern, I post it and hope someone can help me. I don't feel like I have to first say "I'm really a HUGE fan" in order to avoid snarky remarks. It's a little selfish to say you have to love every single thing about the PB to be a member here, and if you don't your the reason the PB is not doing well. It's asinine.01-03-12 10:19 AMLike 0 - Those people, in my opinion, are the one who genuinely like the device and want it to succeed, but they have concerns. Other forums have likely not had to endure the excessive amount of illegitimate and unwarranted bashing that playbook has.
In the infamous words of Mrs. Gatz "Playbook gets to sit in the back of the bus."
