Ok my playbook was on my counter in its sleeve that blackberry supplied when I grabbed something else and there it went flying. It actually landed flat. I picked it up not thinking anything of it. Its definitely fell on harder surfaces. At work when I went to use it I pulled it out of the sleeve and didn't think anything of until I turned it on. No physical problems but now there is a vertical blue line through the middle of the screen. Does anyone know if there is some kind of reset I can do that may bring it back? This is my favorite of the tablets I have and don't want to be without.

You probably have either cracked the LCD screen or there is something pushing on it.

Is the LCD underneath? I hope not.

Ok thanks that could be what it is then.
This is what it looks like, if you can see there is a small pattern of lines starting to extend out from the big dark one

oh that's sad. I dropped my playbook before. Was a small fall. Didn't think of it. Next day, picked it up to use, screen + other parts started dangling from inside. Pushed it back in. Luckily, nothing serious, just feels looser.

Enough of me, good luck on getting it fixed. Might sound weird but you might still be covered under warranty. Just say you turned it on and it blooped/plurred on you

    That sucks!
I would try BlackBerry PlayBook support first. If that doesn't work you can purchase LCD screen from Amizon.
If you don't think that you can tackle the replacement 64G PlayBooks are cheap.
You can't mess it up anymore than it is.

If you purchased it in the last year.
Go to BlackBerry support and register it for 90 day support and you can call them or talk to them online.

Ditto! I've dropped mine several times now and after seeing the results of the Ops drop I'm glad all of my pb's are in protective journal cases.

Also, this last week, I'm also glad I use the travel rapid charger. Twice I nicked the charger wire with my foot and it simply detached without pulling the pb to the ground or wrecking the usb port.

Have you tried connecting to external monitor and see if problem is duplicated? Can be damaged screen or something has come loose. Is the touch still working?

Honestly didn't even know I could do that. And yes the touch works even over the lined area.

I am guessing all PB's are the same, I have had mine since day one. There is a Mini HDMI port on the bottom beside the charge port. Mine came with the cable and you may then have to go into the settings and turn the HDMI on.

Posted With My Z10 or PB
You definitely have to be able to go to the gear and turn the HDMI on. After that the screen can go dark and the monitor will still show the picture. Many TVs have HDMI input ports and also some projectors.

well i recently dropped my playbook, i picked it up and it worked almost perfectly still. and now i went to open it and the screen turned on but no picture, some random pixel lines. but i continued to try and turn it on and restart it until it worked. but it only opened with negative display. and after it loaded i went to turn on standby and off again to put it to normal and it didn't show anything again. no pixels or anything. please help!!!!
