So we had a hurricane here today sitting here by candlelight taking stock. We have food water and phone through my BlackBerry, oh and I'm talking to you good people with my PlayBook by means of bridge.

It could be a whole lot worse

Boringly, and we get hurricanes on a semi regular basis. This is just the first of the season.

Fortunately it wasn't as bad as Igor. Gladly most of the province didn't get hit too hard. Hopefully the winds will subside and the clean up will be quick. Good luck.

You could use PlayBook to assist you next time with GPS to evacuate from the next.

LOL! Google Hurricane Igor or Juan.
    Or check this Wiki article
List of Canada hurricanes - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

We don't get the Cat 3+ storms but Igor was a 1 and Juan a 2. Technically what we had yesterday was a strong tropical storm. We had wind gusts peaking at 137kph (85mph). I can't imagine what a Cat 2+ is like.

I too utilized the PB / BB combo to get storm updates while the power was out. I could have used the iPhone but the PB displayed more and I could switch between Safari and FB quickly looking at storm damage. I could also take pics with the PB and post or email quickly.

True, but when tractor trailers start blowing off the highway and roofs start blowing off buildings we tend to take notice.

Especially if you are in the building or truck at the time.

Is that called the 'StormWall Crawl' out of respect for Duval Street?

Also, I hope the OP and his friends and family are all safe....
