Two questions about this:
Why did Hulu block PB in the first place?
I heard you have to root the PB with Dingleberry, but is there a how-to and can it be done on the stock OS?

If you read the first couple pages in there, you should have enough info to get yourself started. It's really easy. They did a great job making Dingleberry 3.0 noob friendly. :D
Thanks for the reply. I still wanna know why the blocked it in the first place.
Licensing. Hulu doesn't have rights to play to mobile platforms, or at least if they do in some cases then it doesn't extend to the PlayBook. Google around and you will find details.
No thanks. I know some do and others will, but I have no intention or interest in rooting my PB so I can watch Hulu. Or for any entertainment reason for that matter.
Same here.... I'm going to wait for the BB Video Store App.. :D
Exactly! :D
Is this video store coming with 2.0? Or is it down the road?
I agree, I'll wait for the BB Video store. Hulu, Amazon and Netflix have been hopeless. If RIM can deliver this, then I'll download or stream for them. Check out PB NFB app. 10/10!
I was actually mainly interested in how it's done, just to know how.:D In a way I despise Hulu for blocking the PB because I see no real reason. If they block mobile devices in general, then why not laptops? If they are worried about copyrights and privacy, heck there is programs out there to rip the streams. Just like encryptions on DVD and BluRay. They change it to something new, and an hour later it's already cracked again. Why bother...
Did I miss something here?? Where's the "HuluBerry" referenced in the thread title?
Understand it is the content owners who have rights, and Hulu is bound to the limitations allowed by the owners, according to contract, and hence according to laws which protect parties to contracts. What end users do doesn't change that and allow Hulu to break contracts.
I wonder if getting content from the BB Video store app will be as cheap as paying for a Netflix or Hulu subscription, I don't think so. This is why we need Netflix and Hulu on the PB.
Hulu is just terrible. I dint mind watching ads for a free service, but Hulu makes it impossible to start up or catch up on a show you're behind unless its only for a few weeks. Hulu plus does actually have whole seasons but they can get pretty selective still of what you want to get and STILL show ads for a price. And with this considered, I tend to find a greater selection on Netflix (only props I would give Hulu here is the shows tend to be more recent). They should do like Spotify(another app we need) free with ads, pay for no ads and mobile support, not just mobile support. Plus Hulu Plus doesnt support a lot of devices still, a lot of android phone owners still cant use it, and were talking recent phones not some old android 2.1 device.
Hulu is supposedly going bankrupt soon anyway, and they will pull the plug on the site fast if SOPA gets passed, as that will enable fox, viacom, whoever has content on hulu to pull any copyrighted stuff off the internet, so Hulu will no longer be needed as it was their (pathetic) attempt to compete in the current internet marketplace. They will either go back to forcing you to watch on tv or something similar.
Confirming that HuluBerry works on both 1.0.8.4985 and 1.0.8.6067.
