I want to use my Playbook as an photalbum when I travel.
Any recommendation for the picture viewer?

I still use mine everyday for email, social networking, and myriad types of media. In fact, we have two 64GB Playbooks in the house and continue to use Video Chat as well. With sideloading available, we are able to find functional apps for nearly every purpose that arises. I also use it to run my PC remotely with Splashtop making it a mobile desktop replacement. It may be considered "long in the tooth"; however, our PlayBooks continue to be indispensable workhorses in our day-to-day endeavors.

Follow up to my earlier post...shifted over to Fast Browser instead of Origami. What an improvement! Has restored my Playbook as a tool I can Web work with too.

I use mine as a bigger texting screen for my Z10, and to view movies and such. I actually daisy chain my Link-installed PC to my z10, which i then shoot over file-wise to the playbook's bigger screen.

I use it a lot when I head over friends, it's easier to play movies to their tv through a small tablet, a BT keyboard, and a microhdmi rather than lugging a laptop around, and it lets me keep using my phone at the same time.

I've noticed the browser's a lot slower lately for some reason-weird lag and hang ups.

My wifi signal won't reach into my "man cave" so I put my Z10 in the window where it will get wifi and I use the bridge /bluetooth to make the corner. It is a long way from my wifi repeater but the radio works fine, video and web can get a little choked up. My PlayBook will be the entertainment center for the teardrop trailer I am building.

Sorry, only because I cant deal with the speed of the browser. Everything else is great and I still think it is one of the smoothest tablets despite being nearly 5 years old.

Could it be the browser of the wifi only PlayBook is naturally slow?

I have the wifi version and the 4G lte version. The lte version is very fast and it makes me wonder why people are complaining about browser speed.

I used for think my wifi only version was slower because it contains many apps and nothing has been downloaded on the 4G version except the apps it came with.

Shouldn't be that slow, even given that the PB is hardly fast compared to what's out there now. Have you done a security wipe recently? It runs pretty fast after you've done that, and the native browser is pretty rubbish compared to even the abandoned Origami.

If you've one with nothing loaded on it, try it with that one first and see what I mean. It will feel like lightning in comparison to how it is now.

I don't. It's been relegated to the occasional seat-back media player in the car because that's all it's good for, unfortunately - web browsers are slow and glitchy, office suites like DocsToGo and Kingsoft are only good for viewing documents and even KalemSoft Media Player has trouble loading movies from my home DLNA server.

My Android 4.1 tablet from the same vintage as the PlayBook has access to the latest browsers like Chrome, Firefox, Dolphin and Opera and I get tons of productivity and play apps on it. It came with Android 3.1, then was upgraded over time to 4.0 and 4.1, whereas the PlayBook got dead-ended on PBOS.

My Windows 8.1 tablet doesn't have as many apps but it has the supreme party trick of running proper Windows programs in a tiny package. My Android phablet is my work/play device now, replacing my phone and tablet and camera and a bunch of other things, and all the things I had to jump through hoops to get working on the PlayBook now just work on the phablet. It also has USB OTG and microSD support so I can use external storage without any hassle.

I'm terribly disillusioned by what BlackBerry have done with the PlayBook and are still doing with BB10. They need big important apps like a good native office suite which they should pay others to develop. Right now, outlying OSes like BB10 and Jolla Sailfish have few good native apps and end up acting as Android app launchers.

Keep in mind the LTE version of the Playbook has a processor that is 50% faster than the Wifi version.

Alarm clock. That's about it really, I might use it for poker sometimes or if im going to stay in a hotel it's a good device to store movies on. Best alarm clock i've ever owned though.

I have 2 PBs that I still use daily. My 16GB screen cracked, so I keep it hooked up to an external monitor via hdmi and keyboard and mouse via bluetooth - it's a desktop replacement for web browsing, email, etc. The second PB is a 64GB model that goes with me just about everywhere. I have used it for school, work, and play.

I have owned a ton of different devices, but always end up coming back to the Playbook. In so many ways it was a device ahead of its time.

I have a 32GB PB that I use daily. It's primary purpose is a work device. I keep my daily 'diary' on it as well as digital copies of my utility maps, wiring schematics, notes, projects, pix, etc. It also serves as a backup email device although most of that is done via my Z10 now when not in the office. I bought it for this purpose a couple yrs ago, loaded up on specific apps for these purposes and it still serves me just fine. No plan to replace it anytime soon.

My 64G wifi PlayBook has been used daily since mid 2012 as a multimedia (live tv streaming) device. Battery is still great. Sound quality fantastic. Screen unmatched.

Since the z30 and passport arrived, I use it mostly as my livestreaming TV with flash in the stock browser, connected through HDMI to a big screen TV.
I sometimes use it to reply to emails, edit and corect text �n pdf or docstogo (although the passport has killed even my laptop for both) and to surf the web.
For websurfing and email it is surpassed by both the z30 and the passport.
For HDMI TV streaming nothing beats it in terms of picture quality.
Live sporting events or live streaming international TV stations from across the world is my killer use.

Since my Passport arrived, even my z30 has become a portable TV.
Now I can watch two or three champion league or EPL soccer matches or different news channels simultaneously on two or three screens, even when travelling or at work.
When on long flights I use it for listening to music and reading books with Kobo which synchronizes my books between z30, playbook and Passport.
I don't see it getting dust anytime soon.

I don't see the need for a new tablet. I don't even use my laptop more than once per week now while at home because I do all my text editing, emailing and websurfing on the Passport which is almost like a computer, faster, more powerful and with better reception.

Maybe BlackBerry comes up with a 7-8 inch Playbook2 with a passport-like touch sensitive keyboard and mouse, and full laptop (Linux or Unix like) functionality . I'd buy it right away.
I couldn't care less for games, social media or netflix. Just office, ssh, ghostcommander, x11 forwarding, utility apps and the flash-enabled browser is what I need.

I use mine almost identical to what you use yours for though I may be using different programs to get job done. Manipulate docs for business and my volunteer activities, email, heavy YouTube on my down time...when we hear these "dead" comments we have to differentiate between those who use for gaming -social media and those who have other uses. This thing really should never have been called a "Play" Book cause it really is not so competent there. If you've owned the PB for any length of time you've probably found how to work around the flaws. For example the browser, I just find doin a quick refresh button solves the problem. For what I get out of my $120 piece of hardware I feel the extra 3 seconds of my life, for every couple of hours of use, for the work arounds is worth it

I do understand when some say our dear PB is dead, if they have a want for something new but they can't seem to understand how much others feel able their PB and the joy it has brought, me included.

I think BlackBerry WorkBook would fit it like a silk glove seamed together with the finest of gold threading.
And considering BlackBerry was always about the workplace and enterprise, I expected the BB WorkBook to have played every blessing it's part and continue that important status.
