Wouldn't it re update during the set up process? Also, what's the benefit of this reset? To install a hacked OS? If you haven't figured it out yet, no I don't know how it's done ;).

I would like to know what you plan to do with OS1 before I explain how to potentially do it ;)
I couldn't explain to you how to do it, but likewise, I'm interested too to know why you want it...

If you can go back to 1.0, there is definitely a tool to jailbreak the OS
Yes and no. But it's not really useful.
In theory you could use some leaked internal tools to bypass the nvram blacklist
However, I really wouldn't do it because it's not useful at all.
If your goal is to get google play on your PB, keep in mind that most apps don't work.
I've known about how to do it for a while now, along with a few other users, but we just fail to see the point in posting about it because there's nothing much you can actually gain from the process
Hmmm it is interesting though. How much are we able to modify with a jailbroken OS? Could we potentially allow the OS to boot up and once jailbroken simply have the OS shutdown and sort of chain boot into something else? I forget what we actually get from all this. Or is the kernel running with some level 0 type stuff in the CPU that prevents us from doing something like that?
When you root your playbook you only get userspace root. You still can't do anything with the kernel, but you could potentially, say, upgrade the android player to run apps with native code.
You mean we can able to update the Android Runtime?
I want to downgrade for rooting and other advantages
When it is rooted maybe it is possible to upgrade android runtime
So is it just a matter if finding another exploit in the kernel to further escalate or is it some kind of hardware aided thing where the kernel has some privilege level in hardware that other things cannot touch.

Really? Someone please give this man what he's asked for! :).
I hope you share the process when you figure it out:).

yes, my plan once it is rooted is to repeat the step that changes os reading to bb10 dev alpha, only that step so i dont have to put up with other troubles of the full package, and once playbook is detected as bb10 os i can upgrade the android runtime to the latest bb10 one,
pls i think u should all read this thread
http://forums.crackberry.com/blackbe...2/#post9745490
You should also read your thread, particularly the link you provide in your first post regarding the new Jelly Bean runtime. It states in that link, that " there are buttloads of new features along with a 4.2.2 jellybean runtime that will ONLY work for 10.2.1.1055+ so far." Doesn't this seem to say that the Jelly Bean runtime won't work with the dev alpha OS?
it does not mean i cant upgrade to other versions of bb10 runtime, like this one
'Unlocked' Android Runtime for BlackBerry 10 leaked | CrackBerry.com
This is next best thing
I hate to burst the bubble here, but you do realize that runtime components are also in core OS
The dev alpha OS is SOOOOO old that the core OS components will not work with the newer runtimes
Trust me, we had discussions about this when BL was still around, and it didn't take long for us to realize it wouldn't work at all
Hell, the discussion probably lasted 2 minutes. We've been around since the rooting days of PB, it just DOESN'T work. Not to mention that the dev alpha OS has so many bugs. Feel free to experiment, but remember that newer 10.0.9 OSes have blacklist against older OS, preventing you from downgrading. So if you brick --> you will have a very expensive paper weight
Debbie Downer :p.
You're probably right. Maybe we'll get lucky and Mr Chen will throw us a new PB update with an new runtime... he is a software guy after all :).
