Some time ago I bought Cellularity for my 9700 phone from the phone BB App World.

I used it for a while and then uninstalled it.

Yesterday I got the following email from 'Ken' at Cellularity:

Your License Key is: (number inserted)

Your Device PIN is: (my PlayBook PIN number inserted)

The PrivacyManager can be downloaded over the air from:

And to your desk top from:

Please make sure the application has the proper permissions to block a call. To do that:

If your phone uses RIM OS 6.x
Navigate to: Options ->Device -> Application Management
Scroll down until the PrivacyManager is highlighted. Make sure you don’t click on it.
With the PrivacyManager highlighted, push the men button and select ‘Edit Default Permissions’
If you have a BB Storm 2:
From the same location (Edit Default Permissions), please make sure you select:
    Disable Compatibility Mode

Please let me know if I can be of further help.

How did Cellularity get my PB Pin number????

I replied to 'Ken' and asked a series of questions - I did not let on that it was my PB PIN, but asked how they got that PIN.

    I have not heard back.

Anyone else get anything from Cellularity?

Anyone else had phone App providers mention their PB PIN?

This creeps me out quite frankly!!

I've done a PB App World search for 'Cellularity' and 16 Apps show up - I don't have any of them.

I feel your pain. I keep getting pestering by BlackBerry Threaded SMS, BlackBerry Call Blocker, Empower HTML Mail Viewer and more | GetEmpower. @BlackBerryHelp told me to set filters. FILTERS. WT#?

Do they know your PB sim even though you've never given it to them?

This appears to be a security breach to me.

Did you load one of the beta OS on the PlayBook? I find everytime I try a beta the registration of BeWeather on my phone gets messed up and says it is registered to another device. In other words, when I install a beta, it may be assigning my Playbook PIN to some programs bought through AppWorld. The vendors probably also get updated when Pins change.

I installed the PB beta for the first time about 1 month ago and updated again when 840 came out.

So - what you've said resonates.

Maybe RIM needs to know about this because it's a security breach imo.
