So you have an LTE playbook? Let's see what others might have to say since it does not come up often.
Any reason you want to switch? And can't you just change the sim card?
As far as I'm aware carriers don't lock pb's because they are not phones. Under normal circumstances its the manufacturer that normally installs the preconfiguration for most handsets before delivery to the carrier, therefore I doubt very much that your pb is locked. Just use another carriers sim card in the pb and test it. Most carriers give payg sims away free and to be honest I've never seen a company advertising unlocking a pb?
first ,when i purchased this playbook from bell last year i was told by them that the playbook was locked but could not show me any proof that it was . I did try a friend microsim card from his ipod & it did not work ,Cant remember exactly what it said . If my friend card did not was either because the playbook is locked or is sim card (voice & data) configured is not compatible with mine (strictly data) . unfortunately i dont know anybody that has a tablette with a sim card .
the reason i want it unlock is that him travelling to france this summer & want to get a sim from Orange . I already bought the code from "easyunlockcodes.com" for 11$ but they have no process on how to unlocked it . But i did found a site that explained how to unlock the playbook . witch consist of getting a different simcard from another carrier & then the tablette will request the code to unlock . So i hope ,that all goes well when i get a card from orange
Good luck.
I'd also wait another day and bump this thread back up if no one else replies today.
You can't unlock it until you get a SIM card that isn't from Bell.
You will find the steps to unlock it here.
I have seen other instructions that say the Playbook will ask for an unlock code if you boot it with a new SIM card in it.
That would mean you would have to completely shut down the Playbook, change SIM cards and turn it on. Not just pop in a new SIM card while it is already powered on or in sleep mode.
