    First welcome to the forums.

Good luck on finding a fix, I am no screen expert and don't think I've ever seen something like that on a touch panel. I updated your thread title to hopefully better describe your problem and get some of the experts attention.

First, did this suddenly happen or does it occur and go away? Did it start with the install of any new apps?

    You probably have tried restarting?

To fix an issue, try these in order:

Restart using the Battery Icon and press Restart

Press and hold the Power button for 10-15 seconds. Then leave it for 20-30 seconds and see if it restarts.

    To REBOOT:
Press and HOLD all three keys for about 10 - 20 seconds: PowerOn, VolUp and VolDown. Start with the PowerButton. Keep holding past the 3-choice options screen. If you hear a shutter type sound, you've taken a Screen Shot and probably missed the PowerButton.

You could also the tedious, backup/restore of all data and using a Security wipe to clean it off and see if that fixes it. There's also the full Debrick to reload the OS.

How old? Warranty? And rim has been known to fix issues even after warranty - someone just posted about this today:

The PB has a one year warranty to the original purchaser. It also has 90 free Tech support. I do not know how Rim deals with "quasi-tech support v. warranty"

Happened to mine when I let the battery drain too much. Plugged in for a charge and rebooted and the problem went away. If that doesn't work I believe there's an app to fix it, it basically gives you a bright white screen that you leave on, I'll try to see if I can find the thread for it

Follow F2s advice. I just got a brand new 64gb free of charge i was well past warranty. My display stopped working, showing faint lines across half the screen on a background of black, I had to press in on the back to get it to work. Was a hardware fault. It had started about a month after I got my Playbook with faint lines going up and down my screen whenever I would turn the PB on after turning it all the way off. A year and a couple months later I started getting negative images of my display when I came out of standby (3 times only, before the display went out), then I plugged it into charge and poof! Dead display!

    Call BB.
