Been lurking all week after I bought my PB 16 gig.
    Have a few questions .
    Right now its at 1.0.8 6067 .
Pros and cons to upgrade the OS?

    Rooting:
People that do root this for Android is it just for the exercise
of doing the root or there speed improvements running Android?

I'm a photographer that wants to be able to on location put images
on the PB to show the client on the spot. PB less bulky
    to carry than laptop.
I want to root this but mainly for the ability to use the usb pen drive
as posted elsewhere on this forum. However I see
that the OP uses 1.0.8 and not the 2.0 .

Sooo , knowing that would I want to stick to 1.0.8?

The price on the 64 gig @ 299 is tempting however if I got
USb working really no need for me to pay more. Got my 16
for 199 and happy with that. I have Zero need for native
email programs , thats the least of what I would want to
see in upcoming features. Its USB for access to files for me.

    Cheers

Welcome to the forum! I can't help with your queries, but I'm sure someone here can help.

There is a sticky at the top called Tips and Tricks which you might find helpful from a general usage perspective. I don't think it will answer your rooting questions but it will certainly make you more familiar with the device.

    Good luck!

The usb drive that you are talking about I believe was on a laptop and than transfered wireless to the PB.
If you have the ability to create a mobile hot spot and have a camera that can transfer wireless than you can do it.

No, sorry talking specifically about what Quillem did in this post.
He did it using a usb stick drive and a hard drive attached
to the micro usb on the PB.

You are talking about something else.

Welcome aboard, I would suggest waiting for the official update next month before rooting and having problems with other areas of the PlayBook....IMO. This device has a lot of potential and hopefully it will be released next month with the official update OS 2.0
