Help! Unable to backup my PlayBook (after upgrade to 2.1)

I'm having a similar problem as bronekk (posting on the blackberry support forum) - Unable to backup my PlayBook after upgrade to 2.1 - BlackBerry Support Community Forums

Upgraded my PB to 2.1 bundle 1032. After this I'm unable to make a backup of my PlayBook.

After setting backup options (I tried both Full and Custom selection) first there's a window "Backup in progress - don't disconnect your device" after which, 10seconds or so later, follows message:
"There was an error backing up. There could have been a problem with the device or connection during the backup. Verify that the device is turned on and connected."

I use the same connection as used earlier for full backup (before the upgrade to 2.1), working USB cable and the same USB port on my computer. BlackBerry Device Manager does not signal any issues, BlackBerry Desktop Software does not signal any issues either - apart from error message when trying to backup my PlayBook.

My BlackBerry Desktop Software version is 7.1.0.32, BlackBerry Device Manager is 6.0.0.48 , BBDevMgr is 4.2.0.15, RIM USB Driver is 4.2.0.14 and PlayBook RNDIS Driver Interface is 1.0.0.38

I'll be dogged. Haven't tried but I get an error and dm says version 0.0 bundle 0

Well I had nothing on my playbook so I did an experiment. A couple weeks ago I wiped mine and updated after setup over wifi. I thought DM said the right version and would backup before the wipe. Before the wipe I did a debrick and had a couple lockups is what lead me to the wipe.

So I do a debrick, set it up and let it update the 31mb get done and open DM and plug the pb in and it connects and shows the correct OS version and backs up with no issue.

I do know many that have stuff on theirs will not like to hear what I found and I hope there is a better way to get DM to recognize your pb without having to do a debrick.

turned off wi-fi - DM then prompted me to update to 2.1.0.1088 (was on 2.1.0.1032) and then the backup worked fine

The browser clearing didn't seem to make a difference.....
